Andy Newton Horse Racing NAP Of The Day Tip
4:15 Punchestown WODHOOH (NAP)
Wodhooh has to be one of the most likeable horses in training at the moment – heading here today having won 10 of her 11 hurdles starts.
With her only defeat a second to yesterday’s big Punchestown winner Lossiemouth.
She was last seen beating Jade De Grugy at Cheltenham in March in the Mares’ Hurdle – staying on by a length that day to get the job done.
The runner-up sports the first-time cheekpieces today and took this race last year too, so it certainly won’t be plain-sailing for Wodhooh.
But she’s a tough mare and, for me, it’s hard to go against here in what looks a fascinating match-up.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
1:45 Newmarket DOUBLE RUSH
This 4yold bolted up on his debut for the Andrew Balding yard two weeks ago over today’s CD and more of the same looks on the cards.
Up only 5lbs, but due to go up 8lbs in the future so looks well-in on these terms and could even progress into Listed or Group level in the not so distant future.
Shane Foley takes over in the saddle but has ridden the horse in the past.
So with having won with 4 3/4 lengths the last day – quickening well from up with the pace – I’ll take Double Rush to have too much pace again today.
1:55 Uttoxeter TAP TAP SHAMIE
The jumps are back already after only a week break – with the summer hedge-hopping action upon us.
Champion jockey Sean Bowen is wasting no time in getting going again too, as he looks to defend his title and should have a good chance of a winner here.
This Olly Murphy runner is yet to score over hurdles, but has run two fair races in defeat (2nd both times).
And despite losing at long odds-on last time, the longer trip that day probably didn’t suit.
The hood is on today to help eke out more and even though On The Bayou is noted this looks a good chance Shamie to turn on the ‘taps’.
4:40 Hexham SEEYOUINMYDREAMS
It’s been a tough week for the Paul Nicholls camp with top owner Johnny de la Hey removing his horses from the Ditcheat yard.
However, Nicholls can gain some light relief here with this 8yold looking to have an obvious chance.
Dropped into a Selling Hurdle after several placed efforts in handicaps, he’s got a fair bit in-hand on these terms and has been seemingly kept back to race on the better ground today.
Sam Twiston-Davies, who will be riding more for Nicholls this season, gets the leg-up and boasts a 60% SR (3-5) return when riding over hurdles here at Hexham.
