Norcross Brow made virtually every yard of the 4:09 Betway Tanners Bridge Handicap at Haydock, scoring at 4/1 under Liam Wright — and if you backed the 15/8 favourite Norfolk Blue, your money was never coming back. He trailed in fifth. Pos Horse Jockey SP 1st Norcross Brow Liam Wright 4/1 2nd Crafty Blue Sean […]
Beggars Rock (13/2) ground out victory in the 4:00 wexfordraces.ie Handicap Chase (2m3f20y) at Wexford on Saturday, beating 5/4 favourite Leave In Secret by four and a quarter lengths in an attritional contest that saw four of the eight runners pull up – and extended the market leaders’ miserable record at Bettyville to none from […]
Arctic Dawn (11/2) led close home to win the 3:40 William Hill Extra Place Races Daily Handicap (Class 2, 7f) at Newmarket’s July Course, giving Hector Crouch and the Daniel and Claire Kubler stable instant revenge for Crimson Spirit’s defeat at Haydock six minutes earlier – and beating the drifting favourite Castle Rock by half […]
Pellitory (3/1) took the 3:34 Betway Ashton Heath Handicap (Class 3, 7f) at Haydock by 3¾ lengths for Daniel Tudhope and David O’Meara – but the story for punters was Moonshine, the morning 15/8 favourite and a leg of our preview accumulator, who planted herself at the start and refused to race. Pos Horse Jockey […]
Mayra (10/1) won the 3:32 Prix des Marettes at Deauville by a head on Saturday, giving Christophe Soumillon a quick-fire double on the card and denying the Andre Fabre-trained 6/5 favourite Sucre Nabat in a three-way finish to the newcomers’ fillies contest (7f100y, soft). Red Spells Danger won the 3:20 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint at Ascot at 2/1 joint-favourite, Saffie Osborne striking for GB&I — and beating the other joint-favourite, Thunder Call, who was this morning’s 15/8 site pick. Right price bracket, wrong horse: the story of a punter’s Saturday. Pos Horse Jockey SP 1st Red Spells […]
Welbury won the 3:12 Marske Fabrications Straight Mile Handicap at Redcar by seven lengths. Seven. At 9/1, in a 14-runner Class 4 handicap, without coming off the bridle until two out. If you had it: £10 on the Tote. If you didn’t: at least it was quick. Pos Horse Jockey SP 1st Welbury Oisin Orr […]
Lex Victoria won the 3:05 Tattersalls £40,000 EBF Newcomers’ Maiden at Newmarket at 4/1, the €1.1m breeze-up price tag surviving first contact with a racecourse. The 13/8 favourite Watch Party — this morning’s verdict — was four and a half lengths back in third. Expensive puzzle, expensive answer, wrong favourite. Pos Horse Jockey SP 1st […]
Tortsanlot won the 2:50 Prix de Crevecoeur at Deauville at 11/2, giving Maxime Guyon and Christopher Head first blood in the famous newcomers’ race — and burning the money, because Critical Thinker, the Andre Fabre debutant backed into even money, finished ninth of eleven. Backing unraced juveniles at evens: the market never learns. Pos Horse […]
Harpy Eagle won the 2:50 Shamrock Farm Enterprises Handicap Hurdle at Wexford at 4/1, a family affair for trainer Robert Cody and rider Paddy Cody — and another favourite beaten on this card, with 13/8 market leader and preview verdict Ocean Murphy second. Saxon Grace won the 2:37 Celebrate The Life Of Ann Allport Handicap at Redcar at 3/1 — the straightforward part. Behind her, 33/1 and 28/1 shots filled the places and the tricast paid £2,352.15. Backers of this morning’s verdict collected; forecast players who trusted the market did not. Pos Horse Jockey SP 1st Saxon Grace […]
Eabha won the 2:30 William Hill Epic Boost Nursery at Newmarket at 15/2 — flagged as the value at exactly that price in this morning’s preview — while 6/5 favourite Mysterious Times was mugged close home. If you backed the favourite, you lost by less than a length. That’s the game. Pos Horse Jockey SP […]
