Harpy Eagle won the 2:50 Shamrock Farm Enterprises Handicap Hurdle at Wexford at 4/1, a family affair for trainer Robert Cody and rider Paddy Cody — and another favourite beaten on this card, with 13/8 market leader and preview verdict Ocean Murphy second.

The Race Story
Six went to post after Morell River — the preview’s each-way suggestion — was scratched with a cough, and the race boiled down exactly as the market said it should, minus the result. Harpy Eagle disputed the lead four out, took over after two out and found plenty when Cody asked, going clear on the run-in in 4m 49.10s. Ocean Murphy, the course-and-distance winner bidding to defy a 6lb rise, chased him home and pulled clear of the rest but never got to the winner. Isdistheone, the 2/1 second favourite, was 11 lengths further back in third. First prize: €7,068 back to the Cody yard.
Tipster Accountability
A miss for the morning preview, whose verdict — “Ocean Murphy to follow up for the in-form Philip Rothwell yard” — found one too well handicapped, and whose each-way saver never ran. That’s two Wexford races, two winners the preview didn’t name, after Kingside Lady’s 33/1 shock in the opener. The UK-facing ledger tipsters don’t bet Wexford, so the units table rolls on unchanged.
Looking Ahead
The day’s big Irish question came right after: Nadia’s Boy, the 5/6 Willie Mullins banker and anchor of the preview’s 45/1 accumulator, in the 3:25 beginners chase — result to follow in our next update. Later, Leave In Secret (13/8 this morning) carries the verdict in the 4:00 handicap chase off an unchanged mark.
