Beggars Rock (13/2) ground out victory in the 4:00 wexfordraces.ie Handicap Chase (2m3f20y) at Wexford on Saturday, beating 5/4 favourite Leave In Secret by four and a quarter lengths in an attritional contest that saw four of the eight runners pull up – and extended the market leaders’ miserable record at Bettyville to none from four on the card.

The Race Story
Kevin Sexton, who had opened the card with Kingside Lady at 33/1, kept Beggars Rock jumping cleanly for Ian Patrick Donoghue while the race fell apart behind: half the field failed to see out the trip, and Centreofattention was 32 lengths adrift of the front two in third.
Leave In Secret, backed off his Galway third and sent off at 5/4, moved into contention turning for home but had no answer once Sexton pressed the button. That makes it four beaten favourites from four races at Wexford today – Tell The Boys, Ocean Murphy, the 4/11 shot Nadia’s Boy and now Leave In Secret – a sequence that has emptied plenty of Lucky 15s.
Tipster Accountability
Our Wexford preview verdict was Leave In Secret “to confirm the Galway promise” – beaten. But give the value line its due: the preview named “Oneforgonzo and Beggars Rock” as “the pair most likely to capitalise on any underperformance from the market leader”, and Beggars Rock duly obliged at 13/2. The site’s Wexford acca died two legs earlier. None of the tracked tipsters in today’s tipster review had a bet in the race.
Looking Ahead
Next up after the 4:35 staying chase is the 5:05 BoyleSports Handicap Chase, where the preview’s marginal call was Lady Doyanne at 3/1 – twice placed over fences and trained by Henry de Bromhead, who has won two of the last five runnings – ahead of 5/2 favourite Rightfolksplease. Earlier Wexford results, including Harpy Eagle’s handicap hurdle win, are on the site now.
