Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip

2:00 Goodwood SAXON STREET (NAP)

Impressed when winning the Blue Ribband Trial Stakes at Epsom last month – making it 2-from-2 – and will be looking to take this before having a crack at the Derby early next month (20/1).

This son of Saxon Warrior powered home by 2 1/2 lengths last time and having handled the sometimes tricky Epsom course, should be fine here at Goodwood.

Gosden has a fair record in this contest too – winning three of the last nine – and despite Golden Story and Del Maro looking fair rivals – I think all roads point to Saxon Street here.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips

1:50 Bangor LADIES DAY

Has been a tad frustrating with four seconds from her last five starts – but the Ellis team look to have found a good chance here for her to get off the mark.

Took a silver again last time at Fakenham, but that came over 2m4f and today’s drop back in trip looks more suitable (2m) having got tired the last day.

Prior to that was a fair 10th in a Grade 2 Hurdle at Aintree and now into much calmer waters Ladies Day should be winning on Saturday.

2:10 Cartmel BELLE LE GRAND (NB)

Landed a bit of a mini gamble the last day at Newton Abbot, despite fluffing the last hurdle.

Up 7lbs for that win, but this Dan Skelton runner seemed to win with a fair bit up her sleeve and is taken to follow-up.

Belle looks Grand here with Harry Skelton getting the leg-up again.

3:40 Curragh GSTAAD

Runner-up in the English Guineas last time out and will be all the rage to go one better in the Irish version and give Aidan O’Brien a 13th success in this Curragh Classic.

The last two seconds in the English Guineas have followed up in this race – Rosallion and Field Of Gold.

Yes, Distant Storm, who was third behind Bow Echo and Gstaad last time, is likely to get closer this time – but still has 8 lengths to make up with the pick.

So it will be a shock if Gstaad, who is also rated 6lbs higher than Distant Storm, isn’t good enough with Ryan Moore in the plate.
