Andy Newton Horse Racing NAP Of The Day Tip

4:10 SANDOWN – SUNSHINE STAR

This Gosden filly caught my eye when running on well at Kempton back in October.

I didn’t think she was given a hard time that day – more of an introduction type first run.

But holds an entry for the Epsom Oaks and I also think the step up in trip today to 1m2f will be a big plus, being by Derby winner Sea The Stars.

The Gosden camp also like this race – winning the pot three times in the last five runnings – including with Emily Upjohn in 2022.

Oisin Murphy has been booked so I’ll take Sunshine Star to sparkle on her second start.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips

1:30 PERTH – MISTERDOC

The Dan Skelton yard are having a good time of it this week and they will be crowned officially as champion jumps trainer on Saturday at Sandown.

They look to have another big chance at Perth today with this 4yold, who has had a busy season but bring by-far the best form to the table here.

Was an easy winner at Ludlow the last day – with the third Hornica winning well last Sunday to frank the form.

Like most today, I think Misterdoc looks the obvious ‘call’.

4:25 PERTH – MR JUKEBOX (NB)

Bolted up at Exeter last week to grab a first career win providing this race doesn’t come too soon will be hard to beat again.

Up 7lbs for that win, but won hard-held under Harry Bannister, who rides again, and I feel could be even better now also upped slightly in trip (2m4f).

This morning Warren Greatrex told us this on the FTS site.

“Mr Jukebox was a facile winner a week ago today, He must defy a penalty and the quick turnaround, but if he manages he will have very strong claims.”

Therefore, Mr Jukebox – yes…. you guessed it – can hit the right notes here!

5:40 CORK – THE PUBLICAN’S SON

The Natalia Lupini yard have a good strike-rate here at Cork so their Zia Zabel is noted.

However, Joseph O’Brien’s entry – The Publican’s Son – has run well in better races and should be hard to beat eased in grade.

Notably when a fair 5th last time in a Group 3 at Leopardstown, just 12 days ago.

Bred to get a mile (up from 7f) so the trip looks fine and should be better for that last outing – with it coming off a 6 1/2 month break.

Drinks should really be on the Publican’s Son today.
