Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
2:08 Thirsk – LORD D’OR (NAP)
This Andrew Balding runner stands out today – having made the long trip up to Thirsk and also upped in trip.
The yard have a 23% return with their recent runners here and I thought this Palace Pier colt showed a good attitude the last day at York.
He stayed on well over 7f to only be 3/4 lengths off the promising royal runner Portcullis and the third Pearl has won since.
The extra furlong here (1m) looks a huge plus too, so I’ll take D’Or to ‘Lord’ it up here.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
1:38 Thirsk – ARAPAHO GOLD
Based on what we’ve seen from his opening win here at Thirsk, this should really be going to the favourite.
This Michael Dods runner impressed to win by 2 1/2 lengths on debut that day over 5f and should be fine upped to 6f.
Yes, more needed having to give weight away this time, but that track experience is a bonus and connections have also taken their time with 2 months off.
Arapaho can land gold again.
2:50 Worcester – TROUVILLE
This Olly Murphy runner made a pleasing debut over hurdles last time here at Worcester and can build on that to go two places better.
Was a former 85-rated flat runner, but with only nine overall career runs should have more to come over the sticks.
Sean Bowen rides again and it goes without saying is an obvious plus in the plate.
7:32 Epsom – SARANGPUR (NB)
With the Michael Wigham yard in such good form their Fram Castle might be worth a small e/w interest too.
But it was hard to not be taken by the way Sarangpur won last time at Brighton.
That was his first run for the Richard Hughes yard after coming from Ireland and seemed to love the better going.
A 5lb penalty for that last win looks more than fair, but having won with 6 lengths up his sleeve is taken to still be well-handicapped in my book.
The final plus is Brighton is a similar track to Epsom, so there is every chance the Surrey venue will also be to his liking.
Finley Marsh rides again.
