Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
1:45 Curragh – GIANT SEQUOIA (NAP)
This Aidan O’Brien runner was slightly disappointing on debut, as a beaten odds-on jolly at the Curragh (3rd).
But is taken to leave that run behind with that experience and turn the form around with Bull Shark (2nd).
Ryan Moore rides again and you feel when the race was lost the last day wasn’t given too hard a time.
The AOB camp also like this race – having won the prize three times since 2020, including with the classy City Of Troy in 2023.
I’ll take Sequoia to make ‘Giant’ strides today.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
3:38 York – WHO’S LOPE (NB)
Handicap debut today for this Andrew Balding runner, who stayed on well over 1m4f the last day at Beverley to slam an odds-on shot.
The step up to 1m6f looks sure to bring out more, Oisin Murphy rides and the yard also won this race 12 months ago.
3:55 Curragh – THUNDERING ON
The Epsom Oaks form has taken a few knocks since – with the second Legacy Link running poorly at Royal Ascot last week.
But the winner of that race here has had a tiny bit more time to recover and still took that race by 3 3/4 lengths.
Yes, the drop back in trip today might concern some, but won over this distance at Navan in April.
Estrange is a decent rival, but the pick gets 12lbs and with that I’ll take this Joseph O’Brien horse to keep ‘Thundering On’.
4:15 York – HALLO SPACEBOY
Another Oisin Murphy-ridden horse today with a leading chance is this Ed Walker runner.
He’s yet to finish out of the first three from five starts (one win) and I was taken by his neck second at Ascot the last day.
That came back in May, but the 4th and 5th have since come out and won races to bolster the form.
Hallo Spaceboy can rocket home.
