Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
3:05 Ascot – VENETIAN SUN (NAP)
This high-class mare landed the Albany at this this meeting last season and I think she’ll be hard to beat now upped to the Commonwealth Cup and Group One level.
She clearly didn’t stay the 1000 Guineas mile trip two runs back, but bounced back to form in facile fashion when dropped back to 6f last time.
That win at Haydock in the Sandy Lane was visually impressive and she heads here 4-4 over today’s 6f trip.
I’ll take Venetian Sun to shine in the Ascot rays today.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
3:15 Market Rasen – BEORMA (NB)
This talking horse of the summer jumps scene is back again – having won her last six.
With these wins all coming since May 28th.
She’s had a week to freshen up and go again and back over hurdles is 3lbs lower than her last easy chase in (23 lengths).
At some point the handicapper will catch up with her – but I don’t think it will be today.
Beorma can make it seven on the spin.
4:20 Ascot – PRECISE
The next of the Royal Ascot shorties today is in the Coronation Stakes as we see the third clash this season between the English and Irish Guineas winners.
Ryan Moore has got the pick wrong so far in both those races – so as my pal Emmet Kennedy would say “it would be some craic if he’s wrong again here”.
He’s picked Precise this time though and I think he’s right, with this filly likely to stay this stiffer mile better than True Love.
Yes, True Love has the track experience edge, having won the Queen Mary, but that was over 5f.
Precise showed a sparkling turn-of-foot the last day at the Curragh and she should be hitting the mark again here.
5:25 Newmarket – SUPERIOR CHOICE
The final leg of today’s muggy favourites acca comes at HQ as this is a race the Gosden team love to win.
They’ve won four of the last six and should be adding to that here with Hatteen now a non-runner.
This 3yold Dubawi colt was a good winner at Leicester the last day and despite having to give away 7lbs today, that looks the best form on offer.
I’ll take this Gosden runner to be much ‘Superior’ again.
