Aidan O’Brien Royal Ascot Winners – How Many Has There Been?

Over the years, Aidan O’Brien has 96 Royal Ascot winners, meaning he’s just four away from the huge landmark of 100.

It would be a sensational achievement and he would become the first trainer in history to reach that number.

Harbour Master Was Aidan O’Brien’s First Royal Ascot Winner In 1997

You have to go back all the way to 1997 to find O’Brien’s first Royal Ascot winner. There’s been 95 since then, but HARBOUR MASTER was the first and will always be remembered for that.

He would win the Coventry Stakes at odds of 16/1, so really, O’Brien’s first winner at the royal meeting came as a bit of a shock.

And probably a surprise to nobody, O’Brien has gone on to win the Coventry Stakes more times than any other trainer.

He’s won that particular two-year-old race 11 times.

Aidan O’Brien Has Won Royal Ascot Top Trainer 13 Times

The Ballydoyle handler has been the most successful trainer at Royal Ascot on 13 different occasions.

This means he has trained more winners than anyone in 13 different years.

He also ties with Sir Henry Cecil with the post-war record of seven winners trained in one meeting.

That came in 2016 when he had seven winners at the meeting.

He won the Coventry with Caravaggio, the Ribblesdale with Even Song, the Gold Cup with Order Of St George, the Albany with Brave Anna, the Queen’s Vase with Sword Fighter, the Chesham with Churchill and the Wolferton with Sir Isaac Newton.

How Many Winners Did O’Brien Have In 2025?

2025 was another hugely successful Royal Ascot for O’Brien and Coolmore, with five winners throughout the week.

Again, he won the Coventry – this time with Gstaad, who comes back to Ascot as a three-year-old with a big chance in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

He also took the Queen Mary with subsequent 1000 Guineas winner True Love – a standout filly for the yard.

Charles Darwin gave O’Brien a fourth Norfolk winner and if he wins that race this season, he will become the leading trainer in the contest.

Garden Of Eden would win the Ribblesdale Stakes, another race O’Brien has had plenty of success in.

And O’Brien’s final Royal Ascot winner in 2025 came in the Hampton Court Stakes when Trinity College justified favouritism.
