Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
5:00 Southwell – CAPTAIN COOL (NAP)
This Jennie Candlish runner has been in rude form in recent weeks – winning his last two over fences.
Back over the smaller obstacles today, but can race off a 5lb lower mark than last time, so connections are clearly trying to take full advantage of that.
Sean Quinlan is back in the plate too, so Mr Cool is the pick to freeze out his rivals once more.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
2:48 Pontefract – ACCORDING TO MARK (NB)
This looks a bit of a two-horse shootout with the pick and the Ralph Beckett runner Alma Latina.
But the Bethell runner According To Mark gets the nod, having run well at Redcar the last day – just getting chinned on the line.
The winner also went onto run 3rd in the G3 Chester Vase to give the form a shot in the arm.
That was only his second career start so will have more to come and has had 43 days to get over that effort.
The icing on the cake for me is the top SR of thew Bethell yard here at Ponty with their 3yolds (32%).
5:30 Southwell – BEORMA
The Dan Skelton yard have continued from where they left off last season – heading into today with a 48% in the last 14 days.
They should be improving that stat here today too, with this 7yold, as she seems to have improved a stack for the tongue-tie.
She won over fences last time but is back on the same mark over hurdles today and so providing the five day turnaround isn’t too soon she can go in again.
Harry Skelton rides again.
8:00 Wolverhampton – ZOULETTE
This Ollie Sangster-trained 3yold looks to be getting the hang of things after two recent pleasing runs.
Including a decent second last time at Leicester last week when pulling clear of the third.
Billy Loughnane rides again and with another leap forward and on this tighter track, Zoulette should be hard to peg back from the front.
“Zoulette ran well when 2nd last week and can run off 2lb lower than her new mark. It’s a quick turnaround from Leicester but Billy rode her there and they obviously have a great chance of going one better.” Ollie Sangster told us on the FromTheStables site this morning.
