Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
4:00 Carlisle – LUNAR MELODY (NAP)
I thought this Fahey runner ran a pleasing race the last day at Doncaster – when second to a fellow Wathnan runner Proposal.
She only went down by 1/2 a length that day and with the fourth (Venetian Gold) winning since, then the form has been boosted.
Wezzeer and Dark Sovereign are feared, but the pick gets a big weight pull from these two and I’m hoping that will be the difference.
With Wathnan number one rider James Doyle also heading up to Carlisle to take the ride.
I’ll take Lunar Melody to hit the right notes today.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
3:50 Lingfield – BEHIKE (NB)
Like many it was hard to not be taken by the way this George Scott runner powered home to win on the AW here last month.
Switched to the grass today should be fine, having run well at Ascot on debut last September.
Holds an entry for the G1 Commonwealth Cup too at Royal Ascot (50/1) so will need to be taking this in order to be taken seriously there.
6:10 Windsor – CHIMES OF THUNDER
The Haggas camp continue to go great guns and I think they’ve got another good chance of a winner today with this lightly-raced 3yold filly.
She only just failed to overturn a 1/2 Gosden runner at Haydock the last day over 1m, but with that only her second career run is sure to improve.
It’s also interesting the Haggas team have won this race twice since 2017.
Tom Marquand rides, so I’ll side with Chimes Of Thunder ‘storming’ home here.
7:00 Wolverhampton – MOUNTAIN CAT
This Godolphin runner was an easy 3 1/2 length winner on debut 16 days ago at Donny and will be a warm order to follow-up under Oisin Murphy.
He also ran a bit green in the early part of that race so should also have a lot more to come and there is no reason to suggest the switch to the AW won’t be fine.
It will be shock if Mountain Cat isn’t ‘purring’ home again tonight.
