Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
2:47 Ripon – BAI TONG (NAP)
Sent off odds-on on debut so was clearly expected to do better than she did – running a tad green and ending up 5th.
However, the Karl Burke youngsters often come on a fair bit for their opening runs and I’m expecting that again here.
That form looks fair too, with the 2nd and 6th both winning since.
Is also up from 5f to 6f today, which should should suit having looked a bit tapped for toe the last day.
The Burke form at the moment is a small worry, but I still feel this filly would have learnt a lot from last time and is the call to go in at the second try.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
2:35 Stratford – OUR GUIDE
Didn’t always jump the best the last day at Exeter but still managed to get the job done over 2m 1/2f.
But the longer the race went on, the better he got – so this step up to 2m6f today looks a good move and despite having to give 7lbs away looks sure to have a lot more to come.
“Our Guide needed the experience when 5th on hurdling debut, but improved to win a novice hurdle last time. He’ll benefit for the step up in trip here, and despite the penalty is the overwhelming favourite. ” Jamie Snowden told the FromTheStables site this morning.
4:20 Ripon – ZEN DIVA
This Ralph Beckett runner has been a bit frustrating in her opening three runs and has been a beaten jolly the last twice.
But connections look to have found a good race for her to get off the mark, as long as the newcomer Black Orchid isn’t too special.
I also think the cheekpieces on today for the first time will help – as will the return to 6f today.
The Beckett team also have a 33% return with their 3yolds here at Ripon to add a bit more confidence.
Hopefully Zen Diva can turn on the style today.
4:56 Naas CHARLES DARWIN
Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore have won this race four times since 2017 and are taken to add to that with Charles Darwin.
He heads here having won his last four and was a good winner of the Norfolk Stake at Royal Ascot last June.
Returned with a workmanlike win at Navan last month, but is sure to have improved a stack for that run.
So can continue his winning run and then head to Royal Ascot, where he’s around 5/1 for the Commonwealth Cup – a race Caravaggio, who won this Naas race in 2017, took that same same season.
