Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
7:40 Doncaster MASABAN (NAP)
Landed the NAP for me eight days ago at Ripon with a facile display from the front – winning by 4 lengths.
Up 8lbs here makes life harder and has only had 8 days to get over that run.
But he looked to have a bit up his sleeve and with only four career runs looks the sort to progress further now.
Yes, the Bethell form is a small worry at the moment too, but this horse also ran well behind the likes of Pierre Bonnard and Constitution River last year when trained in Ireland.
So a mark of 68 could still make him well-handicapped as long as this doesn’t come too soon.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
1.25 Newbury KALPANA (NB)
One of the class acts on show at Newbury today and after romping away with the Fillies’ and Mares G1 on Champions Day at Ascot last season should be taking this now dropped in grade.
Does need to overcome a 210-day break but has gone okay fresh in the past and really even a 90% fit Kalpana should be winning this Group Three.
The Juddmonte team had a top time of it at York last week and I’ll take their good form to carry on here.
2:23 Thirsk KODO BEAR LIGHT
Promising debut run at Musselburgh at the end of last month – running second to a fair sort over 5f.
That form has been franked again since with the winner Hickory Lad running well (2nd) at Chester a few weeks ago.
With the Burke runners often improving a stack for their first runs, then it’s hard to see Kodi Bear Light not shining here.
4:02 Newmarket SHABAB AL AHLI
The form of the Charlie Appleby yard has been a worry in the last few weeks, but after several winners on Friday – maybe they’ve ridden this storm now.
This 3yold can continue this return to form after a good second last time at Newbury to Maltese Cross, who bolstered that form by landing the Lingfield Derby Trial last weekend.
