Today’s Each Way Horse Racing Tips: Saturday 9th May, 2026
1:58 Lingfield: MALTESSE CROSS
Probably not really an e/w price, but one that I think was worth a mention today.
This 3yold is around 20/1 for the Derby and so will be looking to win this Derby Trial on his way to Epsom next month.
Stayed on well the last day at Newbury over 1m2f and so today’s 1m3f trip is sure to suit.
The second in that last race – Love Is King – has run well since too and the Haggas yard boast a cracking 44% SR with their horses at Lingfield.
2:20 Ascot: HICKORY
Old timer that loves it here at Ascot – winning this race 12 months ago and was 4th in 2024.
Yes, is up 10lbs from last year, but went onto run well off higher marks last season – including a close here last October off just 3lbs lower.
Draw 17 looks fine and Saffie Osborne gets on well with him.
With recent form figures at Ascot that read 1-3-1-2 this adds further confidence he should be in the mix at this favoured venue again.
While I think Khafiz is also worth a small saver as pointed out on the Final Furlong Podcast this week.
3:25 Nottingham: ORANGESANDLEMONS
The Bethell yard have won two of the last three runnings of this and I think have a fair chance again here.
This filly is a CD winner at Nottingham too and heads here fit and well after a fair 3rd at Wolves last month.
Is off the same mark and the added plus is the top SR of the yard here – with a 33% return with their last 36 runners.
Orangesandlemons looks a juicy option.
4:00 Nottingham HERKALES
The Paul Midgley yard have won the last two runnings of this race and so both their runners – Herkales and Mrs Trump are noted.
Of the two, the pick is the more fancied in the betting and will have Jason Hart riding too.
He was a close 2nd at Newcastle last time too, so heads here in good order and is only 3lbs higher than his last winning mark.
Herkales could prove too strong here.
