Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip

2:35 Chester – I’M THE ONE

We saw the winner of the Oaks land this race 12 months ago (Minnie Hauk) and I think it could easily be more of the same this season.

This Gosden filly looked super-exciting when winning on debut at Newbury last month and as a result shot to the head of the Epsom Oaks betting odds market.

Yes, it’s hard to know what she actually beat that day but the way she pulled 6 lengths clear in no time caught the eye.

She also takes on the more experienced Amelia Earhart here and the O’Brien team have a top record in this race (won 3 of the last 4).

But Gosden also took this pot in 2017 and 2019 – with the first of those wins coming with the classy Enable.

We’ll have to see if I’m The One lives up to that Enable billing, but I’ll take her to live up to her name today.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips

1:55 Kelso – DARTMOUTH CASTLE

Just the three runners here and really I think it will be a shock if this Donald McCain 6yold isn’t landing the spoils.

He loves the quicker ground – backed up with a facile 43-length win at Sedgefield last time out and gets his conditions again today.

The yard also won this race in 2023 and so Dartmouth can be king of the ‘castle’ here.

3:05 Chester – BENVENUTO CELLINI

Another Chester race today that Aidan O’Brien has a good record in – winning it five times since 2016.

Including with Lambourn last season, who went onto land the Derby.

He’s got another big player this year too with this Frankel colt, who is already one of the Epsom Derby favourites.

He was last seen running 3rd to his stablemate Hawk Mountain in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster, but that was on heavy ground and today’s better surface will be more up his street.

Ryan Moore rides and so Benvenuto Cellini, who is named after an Italian goldsmith and sculptor can carve out another win before heading to Epsom.

4:10 Chester – TORNADO TOWER

This Gosden runner went into my notebook after a decent debut run at Nottingham, when a staying on second.

To me it didn’t look like he was given too much of a hard time and also looked the sort to have learned a lot from that opening effort.

May want further in time, but at this stage of his career, today’s 1m 2f trip should be fine.

I’ll take this Wathnan Racing 3yold Tornado Tower to ‘storm’ home.
