Newbury Horse Racing Tips: Back Skelton Course Lover For Another Newbury Win

Newbury Horse Racing Tips

Newbury Horse Racing Tips

1:15 Newbury – Castle Windows Newbury Anniversary Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+) 2m½f ITV4

Six of the last 9 winners finished in the top three last time out.

While it’s been a fair race for favourites, with 5 of the last 9 going in.

Add in that Chris Gordon has also trained two of the last five winners, then his KOCKTAIL BLEU stands out.

He was second at Kempton last time out in the Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle and that G2 form looks some of the best on offer back in grade here.

While earlier on this season he ran the promising Baron Noir close (2nd) at Kempton.

Of the rest, the unraced over hurdles Gambino is noted in the betting having run third in that Constitution Hill win at Southwell (AW) last month.

He’s over the sticks for the first time, but coming from the Skelton yard this former Noel Meade runner could be dangerous.

🥇KOCKTAIL BLEU
🥈GAMBINO
🥉LISBANE PARK

1:50 Newbury – BetVictor Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-130) 2m3f ITV4

Tough race, with many chances, so stakes to a minimum here.

Storming George was well back in the Dovecote last time (7th) but a good run in the previous race from Kocktail Bleu would boost his claims.

Nicholls won this in 2021 and runs recent Taunton winner GRAND VENDETTA, who won on heavy at Taunton last time.

That was only his second career run, and the form of that race has been franked with the second Wandering Ego winning in midweek.

The yard also took this in 2021.

Doctors Hill could bounce back at Newbury (2nd here two runs ago). The Hobbs/White yard do well here with their hurdlers, but their overall form could be better.

Of the rest, the Hendo horse THEWOODCORNER also looks a tad over-priced.

He’s the only 4 year-old in the field and gets a lot of weight from the others – 24lbs off Storming George.

Yes, he was a bit disappointing last time (2nd at Huntingdon) but before that won well at Chepstow – beating Senator, who has won since.

🥇GRAND VENDETTA
🥈THEWOODCORNER
🥉DOCTORS HILL

2:25 Newbury – BetVictor Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+ 0-145) 2m4f ITV4

Paul Nicholls has two in there – Twinjets, who likes Newbury, but needs to return to form after some average efforts.

On a plus, is down a pound and has Jay Tidball taking off a handy 5lbs – Twinjets could easily ‘fly’ back to form.

Nicholls also has the 10 year-old Knappers Hill, but he’s not really returned looking the force of old.

Prairie Wolf is up just 3lbs for a recent win at Newcastle and has to be respected.

But we’ve also got HELTENHAM in here – the winner of this race twice before (2023 and 2024).

This Skelton runner will need a career-best off this mark (140), with his wins coming off 123 and 136.

But likes the Newbury track (4 wins) and took the Greatwood Gold Cup here last time.

Up 6lbs from that, but the form has been boosted with Blow Your Wad (2nd) running well at Cheltenham and Teddy Blue (3rd) winning since.

🥇HELTENHAM
🥈TWINJETS
🥉PRAIRIE WOLF

3:00 Newbury – BetVictor British EBF ‘NH’ Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Limited Handicap) (Grade 2) (Series Final) (GBB) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m4½f ITV4

Getawhisky could land the drinks money after winning well two runs back at Windsor.

He was then 4th at Market Rasen behind Khrisma, who goes in the 2:10 at Kelso.

With Charisma Cat second that day – however, GETAWHISKY is now 5lbs better off for around 7 lengths and can turn the tables.

Skelton won this in 2018 with his Cheltenham Festival winner Roskana.

Strong Run will be popular too for Fergal O’Brien, who won this race last year with Siog Gael.

But the other of interest is FRESH AS A DAISY for the Nicky Henderson team.

This 7yold mare was second to another runner here Indannya at Warwick last time – but gave away 7lbs that day and now gets 5lbs.

Meaning she’s 12lbs better off. The drying ground is a plus and with only three runs over hurdles will have more to come.

Festival-winning rider James Bowen has ridden her the last three times and keeps the ride.

With 80 days off too, then she certainly will be Fresh As A Daisy.

🥇FRESH AS A DAISY
🥈GETAWHISKY
🥉CHARISMA CAT

3:35 Newbury – Goffs Hundred Grand Bumper (An Open National Hunt Flat Race) (GBB Race) Cl2 (4-5yo) 2m½f ITV4

Dan Skelton won this in 2025 and tries again with Diamond Street, who was an easy winner at Doncaster last time.

But he’s got to give weight away to several here now as a result of that win, so life is tougher – and this is three grades higher.

Keltype and Lover Desbois are other recent winners in the field to note.

While with Sean Bowen booked to ride Nicky Henderson’s Madame Speaker and with only 10-3 to carry, she’s sure to get interest.

But a chance is taken on BAILLY’S COMET.

The Anthony Honeyball yard won this race in 2023 and also have a 21% SR with their NH Flat runners here at Newbury.

He won well at Wincanton in November and has since been third at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. With the 4th, 5th and 6th all running well since.

Harry Cobden also catches the eye in the saddle.

🥈DIAMOND STREET
🥉MADAM SPEAKER

Kelso Horse Racing Tips: Khrisma To Charm Rivals For Hendo

Kelso Horse Racing Tips

Kelso Horse Racing Tips

1:00 Kelso – BetWright Beeswing Mares’ Hurdle (Listed Race) (GBB Race) Cl1 (5yo+) 3m½f ITV4

The Jamie Snowden mare HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA didn’t quite take to fences, despite winning well at Exeter in December.

She’s since been switched back to hurdles, where she won well at Warwick that last day and is now 4-6 over the smaller obstacles.

The longer trip can also eke out more and the having missed the Cheltenham Festival, the pick heads here freshened up with 42 days off.

Skelton’s Listentoyourheart and World Of Fortunes can give her most to think about.

But Hollygrove Cha Cha can ‘dance’ home again.

🥇HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA
🥈LISTENTOYOURHEART
🥉WORLD OF FORTUNES

1:30 Kelso – BetWright Handicap Hurdle (Go North Cab On Target Series Final) (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m5f ITV4

The Greenall/Guerriero camp boast a cracking 44% SR with their hurdlers here, so their Judicial Deference is interesting.

He’s won his last three in good fashion, with the last coming here at Kelso on heavy ground.

Is up 5lbs for that and has no 6lb claimer riding here but has won on good-to-soft in the last too, so the quicker ground is fine for this grey.

But two runs ago had the Skelton horse BROOKSIDE LA around 4 lengths back in third. But this 6yold is now 9lbs better off.

All of the last three winners were aged between 6-8 and carried between 10-5 and 10-13 to0.

Of the rest, the Nicky Richards yard are in good form and run Baratablet.

🥇BROOKSIDE LA
🥈JUDICIAL DEFERENCE
🥉BARATABLET

2:10 Kelso – BetWright Herring Queen Series Final Mares’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m ITV4

Riviera Walk, with the O’Neill yard having a 33% SR with their hurdlers here, is noted at a price.

This horse was also a nice winner at Catterick (Maiden Hurdle) last time and Ben Macey takes off a handy 5lbs for her first run in a handicap.

While Belle Le Grand has a low weight and is probably better than she’s shown of late – another Skelton ‘plot job’?

However, after three Cheltenham Festival wins, the Nicky Henderson yard continue to tick over and it’s hard to look beyond their KHRISMA.

This JP McManus mare is another that bypassed Cheltenham last week and the fact Hendo is sending her up to Kelso is a big tip in itself.

Especially as this race has a nice £51k pot up for grabs.

She was a nice winner at Southwell earlier this month and the form of that race has been franked since, with the 6th Edith Pelham, who was beaten 24 lengths, winning since.

The Hendo yard also won this race in 2022.

Khrisma is taken to have too much charm for this lot.

🥇KHRISMA
🥈RIVIERA WALK
🥉BELLE LE GRAND

2:40 Kelso – BetWright Novices’ Handicap Chase (Go North Forgive ‘N Forget Series Final) (GBB Race) Cl2 (5yo+) 2m5½f ITV4

Another fair pot on offer with £20k going to the winner.

The Lucinda Russell/Michael Scudamore yard are going better now and also have a 24% SR with their chasers here.

So their Moon Phases could go well – with the yard having three entered earlier in the week.

But the Dan Skelton camp also does well here over fences (6-15, 40%) and run DIAMOND DEALER.

He was a close second (short-head) to I Wish You last time at Wetherby but is a pound better off here and having been collared late on that day – the shorter trip will also suit.

Plus, jockey Tristan Durrell has a 50% (3-6) return riding over fences at the track and gets the leg-up on the pick.

Course winner Glen Road is noted too, but Diamond Dealer can sparkle.

🥇DIAMOND DEALER
🥈GLEN ROAD
🥉MOON PHASES

Bangor Horse Racing Tips: Take Norman To Bounce Back To Form

Bangor Horse Racing Tips Races

Bangor Horse Racing Tips Races

3:20 Bangor-on-Dee – Virgin Bet Supports Safe Gambling Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 2m3½f ITV4

The Four Sixes won this last season by 7 lengths. He’s now 4lbs higher and been well-beaten the last twice – but could bounce back at a track we know he likes.

Static, In The Age and Aurigny Mill are others to note in a very open race.

But a chance is taken on NORMAN FLETCHER to throw ‘porridge’ at his rivals.

Yes, he’s been poor of late, but the better ground here will suit and he continues to drop down the ratings.

He’s now off 118, which is 5lbs lower than last winning mark.

Yes, the trip (2m 3f) is a small worry, but off just 10-7 in weight this will help.

And connections have booked James Turner to take off a further 5lbs.

The final plus is the SR over hurdles of the Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies yard – boasting a 67% (4-7) return here.

Oh, and they also won this race in 2024 with Uncle Bert and the last three winners were aged 7.

🥇NORMAN FLETCHER (e/w)
🥈THE FOUR SIXES
🥉STATIC
