Saturday 21st March ITV Racing Lucky 15 Tips: Best Bets From Newbury & Kelso

Check out our ITV Racing Lucky 15 tips for Saturday 21st March with four selections coming from Newbury and Kelso on Go North Finals weekend.

ITV Racing Head To Newbury & Kelso This Weekend

Despite a relatively quiet weekend of racing compared to what we’ve had in recent weeks, the ITV Racing cameras are still rolling and they head to Newbury and Kelso.

Newbury have a solid slate of action with the first five races making the ITV Racing schedule with four excellent races at Kelso also making the cut.

As for the rest of the races, the final two at Newbury will be shown on Sky Sports Racing (and all betting apps) and the final three at Kelso will be on Racing TV (also on betting apps).

That gives us nine races to look forward to on ITV this Saturday afternoon from Newbury and Kelso. Better yet, Bangor-On-Dee also have one race on the schedule, bumping it up to a grand total of 10. Now check out our ITV Racing Lucky 15 Tips below.

Lucky 15 Tips On Saturday 21st March – Newbury & Kelso

See our ITV Racing Lucky 15 tips below with three selections from Newbury and one from Kelso.

1:00 Kelso – Betwright Beeswing Mares’ Hurdle (Listed) (Class 1, 3m 1/2f): HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA @ 5/2

The opener at Kelso on Saturday is a cracker and I think Hollygrove Cha Cha will just go and win. She steps up to three miles for the first time and I’ve no doubts that she’ll stay the trip.

Jamie Snowden’s charge won a listed race at Warwick last time out and whilst the form of that isn’t the strongest, she did it easy enough and looked as if she would appreciate this test.

Winning fairly comfortably that day, I’m hoping she can use those same tactics here be up with the pace from start to finish – hopefully not seeing another rival.

1:50 Newbury – Betvictor Novices’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 3, 2m3f): THEWOODCORNER @ 7/1

I’ll take a chance on handicap debutant and bottom weight, Thewoodcorner, who gets in here off a low mark, receiving weight from all of his rivals. He heads to Newbury on Saturday on the back of three runs in juvenile company.

What makes Nicky Henderson’s runner stand out is his form. There has been multiple winners come out of the race he won at Chepstow back in January.

The form doesn’t stop there though, on hurdles debut at Sandown, three of the first four finishers that day went on to run in the Boodles. Macktoad ran no race at Cheltenham, but Klycot and Porquoi Pas Papa both placed.

Stepping up in trip could bring out further improvement and Henderson’s horses are going well.

2:25 Newbury – Betvictor Handicap Chase (Class 2, 2m4f): HELTENHAM @ 5/2

Heltenham loves Newbury and he bids to win this race for a third time after being successful in 2023 and 2024. Winning four times at the track, you have to think he has a super chance of winning again here.

He won a hot Greatwood Gold Cup for a second time last time out here and it was probably quite the surprise given he had a 20/1. He looked back to his best last time out, after falling twice earlier on in the season, but he could just prove to be the class in the field.

Connections will be hopeful that Heltenham can complete that same Newbury double this year as he did in 2024.

3:00 Newbury – Betvictor Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2, Class 1, 2m4 1/2f): STRONG RUN @ 5/1

Another handicap debutant I fancy here is Strong Run for Fergal O’Brien. She looks to have a solid chance for a trainer and jockey combination that won this race last year with Siog Geal.

She’s ran well on all three of her starts over hurdles so far and her bumper form from last season stacks up as well. She may have been streched by the slightly longer distance on heavy ground last time at Wincanton so back down a furlong should be fine.

O’Brien’s charge has winning form at thehe distance and the Mares’ race she ran in at Newbury back in November last year reads well. She finished third that day and both the winner Jackie Hobbs (5th) and runner-up St Irene (last) ran in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham recently.

In a wide open contest, Strong Run is the selection and completes our ITV Racing Lucky 15 Tips.
