The Race Story
No drama, no excuses — just a filly on a roll. Halimede bolted up on her handicap debut at Catterick on Tuesday and, quickly turned out under a penalty, did it again in the manner of a horse still ahead of the assessor. Morris had her handy, sent her on rounding the home turn and the race was over in a matter of strides. The only losers were those who took the 5/6 this morning: the most-tipped horse at the meeting was crunched to 8/15 by the off, and backers got a short-priced winner that never once looked like getting beaten. It was the sole success of the night for the Prescott–Morris team after Si White and Sunlit Sea both went down.
Tipster Accountability
Verdict landed. Our Lingfield preview called Halimede the banker of the night and she delivered — though the “famous Prescott–Morris treble” she was meant to complete had already perished, and the 27/1 acca died a leg earlier with Sunlit Sea. The value line Darkest Red missed the frame. No tracked tipsters in today’s tipster review were engaged.
Looking Ahead
The 7:10 Calabash Cove EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes is next, minus non-runner Norfolk Dream, with Ayr runner-up Kanzi long odds-on to see off a field of newcomers headed by James Owen’s Ozone Friendly. The night’s feature, the 7:40 Hewanorra Handicap, follows with Huscal a warm order. Earlier, Wyle Cop sprang a 9/1 surprise in the 6:10.
