Andy Newton Horse Racing NAP Tip Today (Friday 7th August, 2026)
7:28 Haydock ARTHURIAN (NAP)
I was impressed with the way this Andrew Balding runner finished his race on debut – when 6th at Newbury.
That came over 7f, so the step up to a mile here looks a good move and that form has been well-advertised since.
With the 3rd winning since – and also the 7th Clive The Writer, who won earlier this week at Kempton.
Yes, he takes on two fair looking newcomers in Burning Up (Karl Burke) and Godolphin’s Golden Falcon.
But I’ll side with experience over potential here and Arthurian to be king.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips (Friday 7th August, 2026)
5:27 Newmarket DESERT CASTLE
Billy Loughnane and Charlie Appleby could have a good day at Newmarket later – they team up for the favourites in the first three races.
One of those is this Frankel newcomer, who is sure to be fully wound up for this debut.
The yard are in top form (42% in the last 14 days) and as we all know do well here at HQ with their juveniles (38%).
They also won this race last year and have mopped up 3 of the last 6.
I’ll take Desert to be king of the ‘castle’ here.
5:43 Haydock ANCESTOR
Just the three runners here and really only two can win – the pick and the royal runner Tropical Sands.
Ancestor has to give away 12lbs to the filly too, which won’t be easy – but this Haggas runner impressed many on debut, when winning at Yarmouth.
He also ran a bit free and green that day, so that success can probably be upgraded further.
With a more settled race here will be hard to beat under Tom Marquand.
8:22 Newmarket LUCKY HERO (NB)
This David O’Meara runner bolted up just 9 days ago at Redcar by 5 lengths and with that being an apprentice race escapes a penalty.
Meaning he’s 9lbs well-in as he’s due to go up that amount soon.
Billy Loughnane rides and with his title rival Oisin Murphy in the race too (Shimmering Sands), this will add a nice sub-plot in a trappy looking 3-horse affair.
But I’ll side with Loughnane to be the ‘Lucky’ hero this time.
