Free Each Way Horse Racing Tips Today: Friday 7th August, 2026
4:00 Brighton: THE QUIET GENT
This race is called the ‘Harry Bloom Memorial Brighton Bullet Handicap’ so you’d think top owner Tony Bloom would be wanting to win it.
With the race named – I think – in honour of his grandad, who was vice chairman of Brighton FC in the 1970’s.
This 4yold will be running for trainer Brian Toomey for the first time after coming from Ralph Beckett.
He’s down a pound for a recent 5th (of 10) at Kempton over 7f, but the ease back to 6f should suit with his only career win coming over this trip.
This will also be his first run since being gelded and connections have booked David Probert, who won this race in 2021.
I’ll take The Quiet Gent to shout loudest here.
5:35 Gowran Park: MALLAVELLY
Mallavelly took this pot 12 months ago for the Ger Lyons team when run at Tipperary and looks to have a top chance of following up.
She’s back rated 86, which is only 2lbs higher than last year’s win and heads here off the back of two good runs (2nd / 3rd) at the Curragh.
Colin Keane in the plate is the added plus.
7:12 Newmarket: THE CALTONIAN
Spring Bloom is respected here – having won this race in 2024.
But another I feel has a leading chance is The Caltonian from the in-form Linda Perratt team.
The yard head into today with a 50% SR (5-10) in the last 14 days and so anything they run at the moment should be noted.
This horse will be having his 49th run, but has won 7 and is down a pound from last time when only 2 1/2 lengths off Jordan Electrics at Ayr.
Yes, the only niggle is that all career wins have been on the AW and he’s 0-22 on the grass.
But comes here rated 69 and that’s 19lbs lower than when winning at Newcastle in January.
