Andy Newton Horse Racing NAP Tip Today (Thursday 6th August, 2026)

7:58 Sandown GREAT BLASKET

This James Owen runner bolted up at Nottingham last time ( 3 3/4 lengths) and if in the same mood will be hard to beat.

That win came only 7 days ago but you feel it didn’t take too much out of him, while a 5lb rise in the ratings looks fair.

It was also his first run for Owen after coming from the Insole/Newland team so you feel there is more to come – despite having had 42 career runs.

But still looks well-treated off 73, having won off 76 here at Sandown last July.

The first-time visor is also back on.

Oisin Murphy rides and so there’s a lot to say Blasket can be ‘great’ again today.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips (Thursday 6th August, 2026)

4:25 Brighton SARANGPUR

Heads here having won 3 of his last 4 and one of those wins also came here at Brighton so we know the track is fine.

His only blot recently came on the AW at Kempton when he raced too free and Toby Moore couldn’t settle him (2nd).

He’s since bounced back to win well at Newbury and a 4lb rise doesn’t look enough to stop him going in again.

Finley Marsh, who is 2-2 on him, is back in the plate.

4:50 Leopardstown FRANCILLON

The Aidan O’Brien team have won 2 of the last 3 runnings so their Drumbeat (Ryan Moore) and Wall Street (Wayne Lordan) are noted.

However, it was hard to not be taken by the way the Ger Lyons Frankel colt Francillon ran on (2nd) on debut at Killarney.

He had an O’Brien hot-pot (Oklahoma) back in third that day too and so with the expected steps forward he is expected to be hard to beat.

Colin Keane rides.

5:15 Sligo CIRCUS HILL

This McNiff runner is yet to get his head in front from six runs, but has been knocking on the door and connections look to have found a good chance for her to break her duck.

She was a close second in a NH Flat mares race last time here and is back over hurdles for only the second time.

Her experience will be a big plus, when looking at the others in the race, despite Mullins and Elliott both having runners.

So on all known form, Circus Hill should be making the others look like clowns here.
