Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip

3:35 Sandown CONSTITUTION RIVER (NAP)

Aidan O’Brien has won the Coral-Eclipse nine times and he’s got a strong hand to make that double-figures today.

He runs his French Derby 1-2 in Constitution River and Hawk Mountain – with Ryan Moore staying loyal on the Chantilly winner.

Con River’s win in France last time can be upgraded for me – as he was poorly drawn and had to race wide with no cover for most of the race.

Therefore, the fact he still picked up down the straight to outbattle his stablemates was a very good effort – albeit not a win that looked visually stunning.

He’s had 34 days to get over that run and getting a stonking 10lbs from Brigadier Gerard runner-up Gethin is a big swing.

AOB and Ryan Moore have won the last three renewals, and I’ll take Constitution River to sail home for a fourth.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips

4:02 Beverley AL AASY

Great to see the old boy Al Aasy still going strong at the age of 9 and he showed the last day that he still retains his ability with a good second in the John Porter.

That came at G3 level, but is now eased back to Listed grade and has had 77 days to get over that run.

By The Book is feared with the Charlie Appleby yard having won this prize 3 times in the last 4 years, but the pick is rated 4lbs higher (levels).

While Haggas won this last year and also boasts a solid 38% SR with his runners up at Beverley.

6:39 Carlisle MERTOUN (NB)

The Jane Chapple-Hyam yard are going well at the moment and this Oasis Dream gelding did us a favour when winning at Windsor the last day.

Up 10lbs for that win requires more, but had 5 1/2 lengths in-hand at the line that day to suggest there is more to come from this 3yold.

Alexandra Egan, who has ridden 14 winners takes over in this females jockeys pro-am race.

This horse has also travelled 276 miles to be in action today, which is another plus in my book.

7:30 Nottingham JACK LANGLEY

Easy winner at Lingfield last time out and a 6lb rise for that success doesn’t look enough to stop this Charlie Clover runner going in again, in what looks another weak renewal.

Rowan Scott takes over in the plate and
