Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
3:35 Sandown SALLAAL
Okay, the form of the recent Epsom Derby Meeting might have to be taken with a pinch of salt – with the softer ground and all that.
However, it was still hard to not be taken by the way Sallaal got the job done – winning by 6 1/2 lengths.
He went up 12lbs for that so connections are now up into Listed grade.
But with that last run only his second after being gelded there should be more to come.
Those recent runs where also his first tries over today’s 1m2f trip, so there is every reason to suggest there’s improvement still in the locker.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
3:20 Newton Abbot MISS KASSIOPI
The Dan Skelton yard continue in their quest to topple Martin Pipe’s record of 243 jumps winners in a season – and should be landing another here.
They head into today on 51 for the season so far after a top start to the summer jumping campaign, but with meetings getting less in July and August they will want to fire in as many winners as they can.
This mare was a good second at Hexham the last day on her first run for the yard and with a slight drop in trip a plus can gain a first win for the yard.
Hurst Hill, who won this race last year, looks the main threat.
4:10 Sandown LAZY GRIFF
Runner-up in the Epsom Derby last season and has only run twice since.
Last seen running 3rd here at Sandown in the G3 Henry II Stakes at the end of May over 2m but is eased in grade here (Listed) and should take the beating – with only three against him.
Billy Loughnane rides for the first time.
6:15 Chepstow FRACTIONAL
This William Haggas filly has been a tad frustrating, with no wins as yet.
But has only had four career runs and connections are seemingly still trying to find her best conditions.
She pulled a bit the last day over the extended mile at Nottingham on soft ground – so the drop back in trip (7f) today looks a good move.
This Frankel filly also gets a handy 5lbs from the boys in the race and the Haggas camp boast a 38% SR with their 3yold here at the Welsh track.
I’ll take Fractional to find the right numbers here.
