Today’s Free Each Way Horse Racing Tips: Thursday 2nd July, 2026

3:50 Perth: MALANGEN

This 11yold has been a great servant to the Lisa Harrison yard over the years – winning 12 times – and today will be having his 100th career run.

Heads here in good order too after a fine 2nd at Hexham 11 days ago and is on the same mark.

Won here at Perth many times in the past too, and with his last success off a 3lb higher rating, seems well enough handicapped.

Hopefully on his century start, Malangen’s experience can win the day.

5:00 Perth: DALILEO

From the same connections as Malangen – the previous pick.

Heads here having run 3rd here at Perth last time, but is down a pound this time and should be better for that run – with only two outings this year.

Also took this race 12 months ago off 92 and is now rated 89, so weighted to go well and another old-timer (11) today that could easily run well.

6:10 Bellewstown: SECRET MAGICIAN

Experienced sort that is having his 54th career run today.

Yes, has only won three of those, but seems very well-treated off 53 – considering his last win came off 63.

The other plus for me though is the good SR of the Martin Hassett yard here at Bellewstown – (2-4, 50%).

While the final bonus is the claiming jockey able to take 7lbs off the saddle.

Carvalhal is the one to beat, but I’d not be shocked to see Secret Magician pull a rabbit out of the hat here.

6:50 Newbury: ROYAL MESSAGE

This Ed Walker runner ran 5th to Libertango at Leicester the last day – but that form looks rock solid now.

The winner has since landed the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, while the 3rd Captaincy further boosted the form with a win at Windsor on Monday.

With the expected improvement from that first run and the form looking tidy, Royal Message looks to have a big chance of breaking her duck at the second try.
