Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
2:07 Salisbury SQUADRON
Okay, I’m not normally in the business of siding with an unraced horse as the main bet – but on a day where little else leaps out I will.
This well-bred Juddmonte Frankel colt has been well found in the market, which is a good sign he’s ready to rumble first time out.
While the fact Colin Keane comes over to ride is another obvious plus – his only mount on the day.
The Ralph Beckett yard have used this race in the past too – winning the pot twice since 2017 – and also have a 23% SR with their 2yolds at Salisbury (the best on show in this race).
So, with a lot of pluses around this unknown debutant, a chance is taken on Squadron flying home at the first time of asking.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
4:07 Salisbury: STORMING POINT
The newcomer Aleatrix is noted here, but the Moore runner Storming Point has the experience edge and is the call.
Yes, has been frustrating not to have won yet from three starts, but the longer trip today (1m2f) and any rain would be a plus.
In a race that seems to lack depth behind the top four in the market, Point can ‘Storm’ home and grab his first career win.
6:18 Stratford TELLHERTHENAME
The Dan Skelton yard have a stack of good chances at Stratford today and this one is probably on paper their best.
Having frustrated for his previous trainers Ben Pauling and Jonjo O’Neill, the Skelton camp have got going with him now he’s been switched to fences.
He’s won his last two in decent fashion – jumping well on the whole and is only up 6lbs from the last of those wins at Uttoxeter.
The three-timer looks very much on the cards today.
6:48 Stratford SQUARE DALBONI
Another Skelton runner at Stratford with a big-looking chance is this 4yold, who is back on a recovery mission after flopping at 4/9 at Catterick last time.
That came back in January and has since had a wind op.
Was rated 100 on the flat when trained by Ralph Beckett, so clearly has ability and with connections taking their time with him, this looks a good race to get his confidence back.
