The three-year-old Karaktar gelding, offered as Lot 302 by Lakefield Farm, is a half-brother to this season’s Grade 1 winner Talk The Talk and became the headline act of a landmark renewal for the Ratoath auction house.
Tattersalls Ireland said the sale produced record turnover of €20,885,500, an all-time high average of €63,879 and a joint second-best median of €48,000. The company also reported that 10 horses sold for more than €200,000, 23 made at least €150,000 and 59 reached six figures.
Why The Walk The Talk Sale Matters
The result underlines the strength of demand at the top of the National Hunt store market, with proven families and elite consignors still commanding fierce competition despite already elevated prices. It also gives the jumping sector another clear benchmark after a spring in which store-sale records have repeatedly come under pressure.
O’Toole was alongside Rob Acheson, son of Robcour owner Brian Acheson, and Tattersalls Ireland reported that Walk The Talk will go to Paddy Kennedy to be broken before a trainer is chosen.
The official Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale report described the two-day trade as the most successful Derby Sale in its history.
