Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
6:45 Windsor HOUSE OF MEDICI (NAP)
I though the debut run for this Andrew Balding runner, when 3rd at Kempton last month, was a solid opening effort.
He travelled well into the race that day but just seemed to get tapped for toe in the closing stages.
So, the step up from 7f to 1m will suit and it goes without saying he should improve for that experience having also looked a tad green on debut.
Oisin Murphy rides and getting 3lbs off the next best in the betting, Brocklesby Bill is the call to grab a first win.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
2:45 Musselburgh LADY DUBLIN
Not the most appealing race – being a Selling Stakes affair – but the Ollie Pears team boast a decent 33% SR with their 2yolds at this track and that is a big plus.
This filly also brings fair form into the race – with a close 6th (beaten only 1 3/4 lengths) – last time out at York and a repeat of that effort will make her the one to beat.
Harry Russell, who has ridden her in all three starts, keeps the ride.
4:35 Catterick TREASURE ISLANDS
Won at Ripon three starts ago and has not been disgraced since in better races.
Only 2lbs higher than his last win and eased back into a Class 5 (from 3) will make him hard to beat here.
Treasure Island is the call to land gold for the Tim Easterby camp.
8:50 Windsor MERTOUN (NB)
Battled on well to be second here last time out – with the first two pulling clear of the third.
That was only his fourth career run and second since being gelded, so sure to have more to come.
Connections have also given him 28 days to get over that last run, which seems a good move and so with the expected improvement is the call to get off the mark at the fifth try.
Rossa Ryan rides again.
