Today’s Each Way Horse Racing Tips: Friday 1st May, 2026

3:15 Goodwood: ROSARIO

Won this race 12 months ago and this looks to be the target again.

Was rated 94 last year when successful but is now off a mark of 92 too – so 2lbs lower.

This Roger Teal runner blew the cobwebs away two weeks away at Newmarket with a fair 6th and can be expected to come on a lot for that effort.

4:05 Newmarket: BENACRE

The Charlie Johnston yard are not in the best of form at present, but they could start to turn things back around here.

A small interest on their Benacre could reap rewards as this 6yold won on this day last season (Newcastle).

He beat another of today’s runners Leadman by 2 1/2 lengths that day and is only 3lbs higher here.

The switch to the turf is fine too – having hit the top three in 11 of his 28 grass starts (3 wins).

Plus will be fitter than most after seven runs already in 2026..

But is also up in grade today, but that means a much lower racing weight of only 8-2 – a massive 15lbs lower than last time.

4:15 Punchestown: ITS ON THE LINE

This might be a tough watch, as Its On The Line often has to be stoked along in his races.

He was second (yet again) at Cheltenham and despite running flat at Aintree last time. Plus, the return to the longer trip today will help.

This Emmet Mullins runner has won this race for the last three seasons and with the best jockey in the race (Derek O’Connor) on his back.

So Its On The Line is ‘the call’ to carry on his good run in this contest.

7:10 Punchestown: WHIMSEY

The final of today’s each way racing tips comes in a tricky handicap hurdle – a race with many chances.

But, for me, this Anthony McCann runner is worthy of a play, despite falling when last seen over hurdles.

That came at Leopardstown in March, but has been kept ticking over on the flat. Including running a close second at Musselburgh last weekend.

She’s got a 5lb claimer on in James Smith to further help with the big 12st weight and does seem to like Punchestown.

Where she’s raced here twice in the past and been second both times.
