It’s another jam-packed weekend for the ITV Racing cameras as they head to Newmarket, Goodwood and Thirsk.

With the 2000 Guineas coming from Newmarket, they provide the bulk of the action, airing four races.

We are also treated to two Listed races from Goodwood and an exciting big-field handicap at Thirsk.

ITV Racing Trixie Tips On Saturday 2nd May 2026: Newmarket & Goodwood

I’ll be playing a WIN Trixie and level stakes singles on all three of my selections below.

1:30 Goodwood – Chelmer Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race, 6f): ZOOMING

I thought ZOOMING ran really well on her comeback run last time out. She contested the hot Group 3 Fred Darling at Newbury and finished her race off nicely.

It was an encouraging run returning from a 168-day break and I think she’ll come on massively for that. Plenty of William Haggas’s horses are improving after a run so I think she can take this listed prize now down in grade.

She does also drop back to 6f for the first time since her debut second at Haydock last October. Should have no issues with the trip and she’s a solid contender here.

2:55 Newmarket – HKJC World Pool Palace House Stakes (Group 3, 5f): BECKFORD’S FOLLY

BECKFORD’S FOLLY receives weight all around as one of two three-year-olds in this race and I’d say he’s the most unexposed horse in the field.

He looks a huge price and if he shows the same kind of form as his Group 3 win over course-and-distance last season then he might just be better than some of his rivals.

Despite finishing 8th of 14 on his seasonal reappearance, Beckford’s Folly was only beaten three lengths and he can come on for that.

He’s won on his only try over 5f so dropping back down in trip looks the right thing to do. Solid each-way bet.

3:35 Newmarket – Betfred 2000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1, 1m): DISTANT STORM

I’m hoping it will be a good day for Godolphin at HQ and am siding with DISTANT STORM in the 2000 Guineas.

Charlie Appleby and William Buick have won the last two renewals and I think they have a big chance of winning it for a third season in a row.

He was last seen finishing third in the Dewhurst where he had both the Craven and Greenham winners behind him. The form stacks up and he heads to the Guineas fresh after a racecourse gallop just a couple of weeks ago.

Connections always thought he’d make a better three-year-old and being by Night Of Thunder, he should improve dramatically during his Classic season.

Saturday 2nd May Trixie Tips For ITV Racing: Newmarket & Goodwood

  • 1:30 Goodwood: ZOOMING (WIN single)
  • 2:55 Newmarket: BECKFORD’S FOLLY (EW single)
  • 3:35 Newmarket: DISTANT STORM (WIN single)

Placing a £2.50 Trixie (£10 total) on my selections will return just over £1,500. and also level stake singles just need one winner to return a profit.
