Newmarket Horse Racing Tips On Wednesday: It Could Be A Good Day For Godolphin

1:50 Newmarket – Weatherbys With Venatour Racing Handicap Cl2 (4yo+ 0-100) 6f ITV4

CD winner Double Rush will be popular for the Andrew Balding yard with Oisin Muphy riding.

On what will be his first start for the yard since coming from the Charles Hill camp.

The William Haggas yard also won this race last season and have a fair chance with Realign.

While the 2024 winner Dark Thirty is back rated 4lbs lower and has to be noted too.

But a chance is taken on the Charles Hills runner DIVINE LIBRA, who comes from a yard that have won this race twice in the last eight.

Yes, he’s not won in 13, with his last success in 2024, but last season ran well in Listed and Group races, so this drop back into a handicap will help.

The yard also have a 23% SR with their older horses here and William Buick catch the eye in the saddle.

Oh, and the last jockey to win on this horse was – you guessed it – Mr Buick.

🥇DIVINE LIBRA
🥈DOUBLE RUSH
🥉REALIGN

Key Stats 📈

  • 1/9 – winning favourites
  • Last 3 winners aged 4
  • 2/8 – Trained by Charles Hills

2:25 Newmarket – Feilden Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo) 1m1f ITV4

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has never won the Feilden Stakes, but could put that right with Isaac Newton, who was last seen running 4th in the Group One Criterium de Saint-Cloud in France.

The winner in that race Pierre Bonnard had been well-fancied for the Epsom Derby, but flopped in the Ballysax Stakes last weekend.

Shiekh Ahmed Al Maktoum pair Wareeth and Morshdi are noted too, but this could be one for Godolphin with POSEIDON’S WARRIOR.

This Sea The Stars- 3yold was last seen romping away with a Novice Stakes race at Goodwood last October and has 40/1 quotes for the Epsom Derby in June.

He looked smart that day – winning despite taking a bit of a pull.

Plus the Charlie Appleby yard also won this in 2021 with Highland Avenue.

So Poseidon is the call to sail home here.

🥇POSEIDON’S WARRIOR
🥈WAREETH
🥉ISAAC NEWTON

Key Stats 📈

  • 6/9 – drawn 4 or lower
  • 2/9 – winning favourites
  • 2/8 – John Gosden
  • Aidan O’Brien has never won the race

3:00 Newmarket – Earl Of Sefton Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m1f ITV4

Last season’s Dante Stakes runner-up Damysus will be popular here having won the Darley Stakes over this CD last October.

But he does have to give 3lbs away to the others, which means there’s not a lot in it based on the revised ratings.

Cambridgeshire winner Boiling Point should go well too and blew away the cobwebs at the end of February with a close 4th in the Winter Derby.

Course winner Skukuza with Ryan Moore riding is another to note. However, is yet to win beyond a mile, which is the worry.

So the pick is last year’s winner PERSICA, which Oisin Murphy booked to ride.

He took this by 2 1/2 lengths last season and is only rated a pound lower than Damysus, but gets a handy 3lbs.

He’s also been gelded over the winter, which could eke out a bit more improvement and the Hannon yard also won this pot in 2017.

Persica is the pick to follow-up last year’s success.

🥇PERSICA
🥈DAMYSUS
🥉BOILING POINT

Key Stats 📈

  • 4/5 – aged 4
  • 2/8 – trained by Richard Hannon
  • 3/4 – winning favourites

3:35 Newmarket – Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo) 7f ITV4

The last winner of the Nell Gwyn to land the 1000 Guineas was Cachet in 2022 and before her is was Speciosa in 2006.

This is another Craven Meeting race trainer Aidan O’Brien is yet to win. But in his defence hasn’t probably had many runners in it.

His 40/1 1000 Guineas hope Beautify will be trying to break that Ballydoyle duck and brings fair form to the table.

Including a win in the Airlie Stakes and runner-up in the Moyglare Stud last season. But was well back last time in the Cheveley Park.

The Gosden yard took this in 2025 and run Asemeralda, who could be anything after a win at Kempton last December.

Plus, the fact they are pitching here here suggests she’s come on for that run and Oisin Murphy rides.

But this could be yet another for Godolphin, with ACT OF KINDNESS.

Both her runs have been here at Newmarket, including a win here last October over this 7f trip.

The Charlie Appleby yard are also in great form (50%) SR) and we can expect this Siyouni filly to have improved further over the winter.

She doesn’t however, hold a 1000 Guineas entry at this stage.

🥇ACT OF KINDNESS
🥈BEAUTIFY
🥉ASMERALDA

Key Stats 📈

  • 3/9 – trained by the Gosden yard
  • 6/9 – stalls 7+
  • 2/7 – ridden by William Buick
