The final edition of ‘Friday Night Live’ is upon us, so check out our Newcastle tips for tonight as seven races air live on ITV Racing.
Newcastle Host Final Friday Night Live Tonight
We’ve already had four events full of competitive all-weather action and the final ‘Friday Night Live’ takes place at Newcastle tonight.
With nine races on the Newcastle card, seven will be shown live on the ITV Racing schedule from 5:30pm.
Plenty of runners have attracted each meeting with the generous prize money on offer, so you could say that Arena Racing Company’s (ARC) initiative has been a success.

5:30pm – Bet Responsibly With SBK Handicap (Class 5, 7f): PHOENIX OF DREAMS 11/2
A competitive heat kicks off the ITV Racing coverage and I think PHOENIX OF DREAMS has a solid chance of following up his recent course and distance success.
He only won by a narrow margain last time, but he finished his race strongly and with just a 2lb rise, he remains well treated and can get the job done.
6:00pm – SBK: No Casino Just Sports Handicap (Div 1) (Class 5, 6f): MAYO COUNTY (EW) 14/1
This is tricky to unpick but MAYO COUNTY won at Newcastle last year off a mark of 60 and he’s rated just 1lb higher now.
Just over 12 months on from that course and distance win, it might be the time to catch Julie Camacho’s inmate with Ryan Sexton taking over from a 5lb claimer who’s ridden him the last four times. Each-way player here.
6:30pm – SBK: No Casino Just Sports Handicap (Div 2) (Class 5, 6f): TEARDROPS (EW) 6/1
TEARDROPS has been in decent form at Newcastle over the past few months bar his penultimate effort and finished second here at the start of March.
His three course and distance wins over the winter put him high on the list tonight. Jack Callan also keeps the ride and he claims a valuable 5lbs, so he’s worth chancing.
7:00pm – SBK: Betting WIthout The Bull Handicap (Class 3, 6f): TWILIGHT FUN (EW) 8/1
A trappy feature. Returning to Newcastle looks like a huge positive for TWILIGHT FUN given he is unbeaten here.
He was beaten favourite last time out at Chelmsford but that was a Class 2 over 5f and this race should suit much more back up in distance.
Twilight Fun is somewhat of an all-weather specialist so I fancy him to run very well with four places on offer.
7:30pm – Friday Night Live With SBK Handicap (Class 4, 7f): SAYTARR 9/4
If any favourite is going to go in tonight then I think it will be SAYTARR. Has looked to benefit from a change of scenery and is two-from-two since joining James Horton.
He won twice at Southwell under Danny Muscutt who retains the ride here. Got a great strike-rate on the all-weather with four wins from seven starts. Travelled into his race well last time and his hold up style can suit on a first visit to Newcastle.
8:00pm – SBK: Don’t Settle For Less Handicap (Class 4, 7f): BENACRE (EW) 15/2
BENACRE is another horse who likes Newcastle. He recorded a cosy win over course and distance in February and wasn’t beaten far just 1lb higher at Wolverhampton last time out despite racing keenly.
Charlie Johnston’s charge could get a nice toe into the race from a prominent position and is a solid each-way option.
8:30pm – SBK Betting Podcast Handicap (Class 4, 5f): TIRIAC (EW) 11/1
The lucky last is another hard race to dissect and whilst it wouldn’t be a strong selection, I’ll take a shot with the only course and distance scorer in the field TIRIAC.
He won nicely here back in December and has been given a break since. Acts well at Newcastle and with most firms offering four places, he’s all the value at 11/1.
