Joseph O’Brien and Willie Mullins have been forced into late jockey changes as Dylan Browne McMonagle has been ruled out of Dubai World Cup night.
Dylan Browne McMonagle Ruled Out Of Dubai World Cup Night
Irish Champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle will miss Dubai World Cup night after sustaining an injury.
The 23-year-old was due to partner hot Dubai Gold Cup favourite Al Riffa but now won’t get the chance to ride the Irish St Leger hero. Joseph O’Brien has called in Declan McDonogh in place of him
He was also due to ride Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Ethical Diamond for Willie Mullins in the Sheema Classic. Mullins now turns to Danny Tudhope.
Both Al Riffa and Ethical Diamond provided Browne McMonagle with his greatest moments yet.
The young jockey steered Al Riffa to victory in last year’s Irish St Leger and also partnered Ethical Diamond in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

It’s been a rapid rise to glory for the County Donegal man and last season he was crowned Irish Champion jockey with 95 winners to his name.
And both horses he was due to ride have great chances too. Victory in both races would have bagged a massive £3 million for connections with £2.5 million of it coming from the Sheema Classic.
Although Browne McMonagle wouldn’t have had a chance to win any Dubai World Cup prize money as he didn’t have a ride in that particular race.
Browne McMonagle’s Big Race Wins
- Irish St Leger – Al Riffa (2025)
- Vincent O’Brien National Stakes – Al Riffa (2022), Scorthy Champ (2024)
- Criterium de Saint Cloud – Tennessee Stud (2024)
