Major festivals such as the Cheltenham Festival and Royal Ascot are typically shown on the flagship ITV channel due to their popularity and prestige.

      ITV Racing Schedule Today

Another jam-packed week for the ITV Racing team with coverage on three days – Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

We get going in midweek with the three-day Newmarket Craven Meeting (Tues-Thurs), with the ITV cameras showing four race on both Wednesday and Thursday.

These include the Craven Stakes (Thurs) – which may give some 2000 Guineas pointers. But the last horse to win both races was Haafhd in 2004.

Before that is the Nell Gywn Stakes (Weds) as the 1000 Guineas hopefuls are on show, with last winner of both races was Cachet in 2022.

Then on Saturday, the ITV Racing cameras are covering the Scottish Grand National card at Ayr – can Willie Mullins win the prize for a third time in-a-row?

Plus they are also at Newbury for their Dubai Duty Free card, that will see Constitution Hill running on the turf on the flat for the first time in the John Porter Stakes.

In total, there are 17 ITV races to look forward to this week.

UK terrestrial racing coverage was previously shared between the BBC and Channel 4.

That changed in January 2016 when Channel 4 lost the broadcasting rights after more than three decades.

ITV Racing officially launched in January 2017 and remains the UK’s only free-to-air television broadcaster dedicated to horse racing coverage.

Channel 4’s final day covering the sport came on 27th December 2016, featuring the Christmas meeting from Kempton Park and the Welsh Grand National from Chepstow.
