What Have Been The Best Willie Mullins Cheltenham Festival Races?

Having sent out a record 113 Cheltenham Festival winners, trainer Willie Mullins is the man many punters turn to over the biggest four days of jumps racing of the season.

However, from his haul of winners – which races does he have the best record in?

Top SIX Willie Mullins Cheltenham Festival races

  • Weatherbys Champion Bumper (14 wins)
  • Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle (11 wins)
  • County Hurdle (8 wins)
  • Supreme Novices Hurdle (8 wins)
  • Turners Novices’ Hurdle (7 wins)
  • Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (7 wins)

While, of the 28 races, there are still SEVEN Cheltenham races Mullins is yet to win

Willie Mullins Has Won The Weatherbys Champion Bumper 14 Times

The final Cheltenham Festival race on Wednesday is always the Weatherbys Champion Bumper – and it’s a contest Willie Mullins has farmed over the years.

Since the race was first run back in 1992 – Mr Mullins has racked up a remarkable 14 Champion Bumper successes.

With his first coming in 1996 with Wither or Which, a horse Mullins actually rode and trained himself that year.

And his most recent win in the only Festival flat race was just 12 months ago, when Bambino Fever powered home under jockey Jody Townend (watch below).

A win that gave jockey Jody Townend her first Festival winner.

Mullins will head into the 2026 Cheltenham Festival having won five of the last six Champion Bumpers.

We can expect him to be mob-handed again – most years he’s got several runners.

With son Patrick the winning-most rider in this race (4 wins), then anything he gets the leg-up on should be noted.

At this stage the Rich Ricci-trained LOVE SIGN D’AUNOU is the shortest-priced Willie Mullins runner in the Champion Bumper.

He was super-impressive when winning by 24 lengths at Naas at the end of January.

A win that saw his odds slashed into one of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival favourites

Willie Mullins Loves To Win The Mares’ Hurdle At The Cheltenham Festival

The next best Willie Mullins Cheltenham Festival race is the Mares’ Hurdle – which is now run on Thursday (switched from Tuesday).

Mullins has notched 11 wins in the ‘Girl Power’ race, with his first coming in 2009 with Quevega.

That talented mare made the race her own with a remarkable FIVE more wins in the race – coming between 2009 and 2014.

While the latest Mullins horse to dominate the Mares’ Hurdle has been the Rich Ricci-owned LOSSIEMOUTH.

She’s won the last two with ease and could be back for more if she doesn’t head to the Champion Hurdle on day one (see her 2025 win below).

Mullins Has Notched Eight Wins In Both Supreme and County Hurdles

The joint third best Willie Mullins races at the Cheltenham Festival have been the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the County Hurdle. With eight wins in each.

Each year the Cheltenham roar is heard when the tape goes up for the Supreme – the first Festival race. And backing Willie Mullins runners here has paid off for punters.

In fact, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle was the race Willie Mullins sent out his very first Cheltenham Festival winner in. When Tourist Attraction won in 1995 for jockey Mark Dwyer.

Ten more wins have followed in the race, with the most recent Kopek Des Bordes in 2025 – watch on the ITV Racing schedule below.

Mullins will be looking for his ninth Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner with MIGHTY PARK and KING RASKO GREY. Who are his two lowest-priced 2026 runners.

The County Hurdle on Friday has also been a very kind race to Willie Mullins – with eight winners.

With his first Thousand Stars in 2010 and his most recent Absurde in 2024.

This year many punters feel Mullins can add to his County Hurdle haul with MURICA, who was 8th in the Fred Winter 12 months ago
