Wexford Bumper Result: Alicious Gives Mullins the Last Laugh

Alicious won the 5:35 fillies bumper that closed Wexford’s Saturday card, the Willie Mullins debutante scoring by a length and a half at 7/4 under Patrick Mullins as the 11/10 favourite Honey Bucks trailed home sixth of seven.

Pos Horse Jockey SP
1st Alicious Mr P W Mullins 7/4
2nd Dancing Symbol Mr A P Ryan (5) 7/1
3rd The Lodge Lane Mr H C Swan 10/1

Seven fillies went two miles on good ground, good to yielding in places, the winner stopping the clock at 3m 42.70s.

The Race Story

The champion amateur made it look routine on the French-bred newcomer. Alicious tracked the leader early, took command after two furlongs and was never headed thereafter, stretching clear before being ridden out to hold Dancing Symbol, who chased her home without ever truly threatening. The Lodge Lane stayed on for third at 10/1.

The market told the real story: Honey Bucks, backed as if defeat were impossible for the Gleeson camp, was never travelling like a winner and faded tamely into sixth. For the Mullins stable it was some consolation on a night their banker elsewhere on the card let punters down badly.

Tipster Accountability

Our Wexford preview went with Honey Bucks at 11/8 — a clear miss, though the same piece named Alicious as the obvious danger given the yard she comes from. That closes the Wexford book with the verdicts having a rough evening: the 45/1 acca died at leg two when Mullins banker Nadia’s Boy finished last, though Rightfolksplease (5:05) and Rockonliam did land winning verdicts-adjacent favourites late on. Nothing here for the tracked tipsters in today’s tipster review.

Looking Ahead

That is the last word from Bettyville, where the early theme of shock results — Kingside Lady at 33/1 the extreme — gave way to a favourite-friendly finish. Irish jumping continues tonight at Kilbeggan, headlined by Pets Georgina’s hat-trick bid at 6:48 and the €25,000 KEPAK Handicap Chase at 7:48, all covered by our results desk.
