Femme Fatale won the 5:40 Saint Lucia Let Her Inspire You Handicap, the opener on Lingfield’s evening Polytrack card, by a head at 10/3 under George Wood for trainer James Tate.
| Pos | Horse | Jockey | SP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Femme Fatale | George Wood | 10/3 |
| 2nd | Fabled Spirit | Gina Mangan | 15/2 |
| 3rd | Last Flight | Jonny Peate | 13/2 |
Ten ran over the marathon 1m7f trip on standard going, and it could hardly have been tighter at the line: a head back to Fabled Spirit, a nose further to Last Flight. The winning time was 3m 25.64s.
The Race Story
Wood judged a staying-race ride nicely, tracking the front pair before moving into second two furlongs out. Femme Fatale hit the front in the closing stages but idled once there, and Gina Mangan conjured a late surge from 15/2 shot Fabled Spirit that very nearly stole it on the line — the photo confirming the Tate filly had held on by a head, with Last Flight’s late flourish only a nose away from snatching second.
Tipster Accountability
The morning desk sat this one out: none of the Bottom Line picks in our Lingfield preview ran in the opener, so the card’s 27/1 four-fold — which begins in the 6:10 — is untouched. Likewise none of the tracked tipsters in today’s tipster review had a bet in this race.
Looking Ahead
The night’s real business starts now. The 6:10 sprint handicap features first acca leg Sunlit Sea at 7/4 for Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris — two from two last month — with banker Halimede to follow in the 6:40. The Prescott–Morris partnership headlines the early races on a card we previewed as a night for the form horses. For the last of the afternoon action, see the Newmarket finale results.
