Andy Newton’s Lay Of The Day Horse Racing Tip: Wednesday 29th July 2026
6:15 Sandown: JUSTCALLMEPETE
Will be having his 64th race today and has a top win record (12).
But these wins have been over a tad further than today’s 5f trip.
He’s also back up 2lbs higher than his last win (2 runs ago, 6f Windsor) and even though connections have a 7lb claimer on today, he does have a lot of weight (10st).
I just think the worry if I was a backer is if he’ll just get a tad out-paced over the minimum trip today.
Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).

3:00 Goodwood: ROYAL VELVET (20/1 Midnite)
“I don’t know what happened to Royal Velvet at Royal Ascot but she ran much better at York. She’ll love the fast ground and this is the right race for her albeit she carries a penalty having won a Group 3 this year. I think she’ll run a big race and she is definitely overpriced.” WILLIAM KNIGHT
