Newmarket Horse Racing Tips On Saturday 11th July 2026: July Cup Looks A Cracker

13:40 NEWMARKET (JULY) Rossdales British EBF Maiden Stakes Cl3 (2yo) 7f ITV4

Haffner will be advertising the Abraham Lincoln form, having run second to his stablemate at the Curragh on debut (watch below) and should be better for the step up to 7f.

Abraham Lincoln runs in the Superlative Stakes later on the card (4pm).

However, this has been another good Newmarket for the Charlie Appleby yard – winning 4 of the last 10 – and so their AL WATHBA is chanced on debut.

This Wootton Bassett colt was a €900k buy from the French sales and is sure to be well-forward with the yard having a decent 38% SR with their juveniles here too.

Buick rides and this race has been won by some very classy horses before – including Field Of Gold in 2024, Distant Storm in 2025, while recent Eclipse winner Constitution River was runner-up.

Whether Haffner of Al Wathba reach those heights is anyone’s guess, but he’s certainly got the pedigree and reputation to give it a go.

Of the rest, the Balding team have won 2 of the last 10 too, so their Juddmonte runner Subscription is noted in the market too. Plus heads here with a tall reputation.

But the ‘boys in blue’ have already had a top time of it this weekend and I’ll take then to carry that onto Saturday.

🥇AL WATHBA
🥈HAFFNER
🥉SUBSCRIPTION

14:15 NEWMARKET (JULY) Newmarket Racecourses Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 7f ITV4

The William Knight yard won this race last year and try again – this time with True Test, who was a fine 6th in the Sandringham last time.

Buick rides too and he was on their winner in this race 12 months ago as well.

Consistent Shallow could make a splash too – she’s starting to look well-handicapped off 78 with her last win off 82 – oh, and that also came here on the July Course.

Machadadorp has won her last two and was gutsy the last day at Wetherby and makes her handicap debut here.

But a chance is take on the slightly fresher SONG N DANCE to go well for Tom Marquand.

This Woods runner was last seen running 2nd to Radiant Beauty at Ascot in a Handicap in May and winner has since landed a Listed prize to frank the form.

The 3rd Alobayyah has also won since and the 4th Quamby ran a cracker to be 6th in the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot next time.

That race also came over 1m, so having not quite seen it out, the ease back to 7f also looks a good move to me.

So, with the form looking rock solid, I’ll take Song N Dance to hit the right notes.

🥇SONG N DANCE (NAP)
🥈SHALLOW
🥉TRUE TEST

14:52 NEWMARKET (JULY) Newmarket Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-100) 1m ITV4

Another good race for the Charlie Appleby yard – winning 4 of the last 8, while Godolphin have landed 5 of the last 8 too.

They run TALES OF WISDOM here, who was last seen running well back in the Britannia Stakes last time at Royal Ascot.

However, he missed the start a bit that day and was also drawn on the far side (low) so it’s certainly a race that can be forgiven.

Before that he’d won here at HQ on the Rowley Mile, so s repeat of that would make him interesting in a race the ‘blue team’ love.

Of the rest, Ryan Moore catches the eye on the Roger Varian runner Wechaad, who was 7th in the Britannia.

While we’ve also got the winner of that RA race – Moonfall, but he’s up 7lbs.

Alfaraz is the only CD winner in the field and is respected on that alone.

But the other main fancy is EKLLEEM, who I thought was impressive at Ripon last time in a Novice race.

Into a handicap for the first time here on a mark of 87 and with just 4 career runs should have more to some.

He was also gutsy and brave the last day – going up the inside of his main rival on the rail, but that didn’t impact him.

Tom Marquand rides for William Haggas.

🥇EKLLEEM
🥈TALES OF WISDOM
🥉WECHAAD

15:25 NEWMARKET (JULY) Betway Bunbury Cup (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 (3yo+) 7f ITV4

Aalto won this in 2024 and was second in 2025 off 92, so the fact he’s back rated 87 this time makes him a serious player at a venue we know he loves.

He heads here having run second to Dark Tornado last time at here at HQ and that horse is also back for more, but Aalto is 4lbs better off this time.

If the former Stoute runner Nostrum wins, then we should probably all give up – but I’ve seen stranger things happen and this ex-114 rated horse is now rated 90.

Course winner Elarak and the consistent Back In Black are noted too.

But I’m going to chance two here at bigger prices – TWO TRIBES and THE FINGAL RAVEN.

The former is last year’s Stewards’ Cup hero (8lbs higher) but won off just a pound lower at Meydan in January so is capable.

He was last seen running 12th in the Wokingham but actually did okay there from a low draw – beaten only 5 lengths to Double Rush at the line.

Oisin Murphy rides too and he’s got fair form here on the July Course.

The Fingal Raven is the other at a price. This Jamie Osborne runner was 16th in the Buckingham Palace last time at Ascot but that was his first run for 3 months.

It was similar last season – when 23rd in the Britannia and then bounced back to run well (3rd) at Sandown last July.

So, I’m happy to side with Two Tribes going to war here, with a cover on Raven flying under the radar.

🥇TWO TRIBES
🥈THE FINGAL RAVEN
🥉AALTO

16:00 NEWMARKET (JULY) Superlative Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV4

Abraham Lincoln could be the next big Aidan O’Brien talking horse to come out of Ballydoyle – winning well on debut and is already 20/1 for the 2000 Guineas next season.

Haffner, who was runner-up goes in the 1:40 on this card, so it goes without saying a win for him well enhance Lincoln’s claims.

O’Brien used this race too for City Of Troy in 2023 and also won it in 2017 with Gustav Klimt.

However, it’s also a pot the Charlie Appleby team have done well in – winning 7 of the last 11 – including the last two.

They run AL HUDAIBA here, who will be the more experienced with three runs and it would be three wins has he not jinked and unshipped Tom Marquand at Yarmouth in May.

He’s bounced back from that to see off a fair-looking Hannon runner – Down To You Kid, and his extra experience will be a big plus.

In short, Abraham Lincoln could be special, but at the prices and with their record in this race – Al Hudaiba – looks the better value.

The 450Gns Amo Racing buy Pikachu can take the bronze.

With these Ballydoyle horses named after US presidents – don’t forget we had George Washington not that long ago too – hopefully we don’t get a Donald Trump.

🥇AL HUDAIBA
🥈ABRAHAM LINCOLN
🥉PIKACHU

16:35 NEWMARKET (JULY) Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai July Cup Stakes (Group 1) Cl1 (3yo+) 6f ITV4

A crackerjack of a renewal – with the focus surely on the four big Royal Ascot winners.

Double Rush took the Wokingham, Venetian Sun the Commonwealth Cup, Almeraq the QEII Jubilee and Mission Central the King Charles III Stakes.

Throw in the Japanese runner Satono Reve and you can make claims for all five.

However, I think having only just hung on last time this could be a step too far for Double Rush. While at 7 Satono Reve might be too old – backed up with the last 7yold winner in 1938 and only one 6yold winner in that period too (Les Arcs, 2006).

Venetian Sun is 5-5 over 6f and is a cracking filly – but the last 3yold filly to win was Habibti in 1983.

Almeraq has also won 4 of his 7 starts over 6f and has done amazing after his fall at York last September.

But I’m happy to stick with MISSION CENTRAL for team Ballydoyle and Ryan Moore.

He came with a blistering late run to get up in the King Charles III over 5f last time, so the extra furlong here is a huge plus.

He’s 3-3 over 6f too and 5 of the last 11 winners have been aged 3. AOB has also done well in this race over the years – with five wins.

Mission Central can be his next. While away from the main players, last year’s neck second Big Mojo could outrun his odds.

🥇MISSION CENTRAL
🥈VENETIAN SUN
🥉ALMERAQ
