As we head into Wednesday 8th July 2026, see Andy Newton’s LAY OF THE DAY horse racing tip from Catterick.

Plus, Andy also showcases the longest travellers, any horses running that WON THE SAME RACES last season and some key racing stats and facts to take into the day’s action.

And, finally, there’s also a FREE daily TRAINER QUOTE from the popular FromTheStables service to look out for – info that’s come DIRECT from the trainer!

Andy Newton’s Lay Of The Day Horse Racing Tip: Wednesday 8th July 2026

2:00 Catterick: FILEY BEACH

CD winner here at Catterick, so we know the track suits – having actually won 3 of his 4 career runs here.

But after his last success at this venue has been a beaten favourite at Wolverhampton.

Yes, the return to the turf is expected to suit, but is still 5lbs higher for his last win and only just got home by a neck that day.

The useful Taryn Langley helps to take off 3lbs, but that still leaves him 2lbs to find and is yet to race off a mark this high.

At the prices, I’ll take Filey Beach to get washed-up today.

Note: Some picks can drift during the day (obviously we have no control of that) – but I’d say if they hit 8.0+ they are prob best left (for obvious reasons).
