Woodbine Cancels July 3 Racing As Infrastructure Repairs Continue
Woodbine Entertainment has cancelled live racing at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto on Friday, July 3, because underground infrastructure repairs are still ongoing.
The decision extends the disruption first triggered by a sewer line issue near the all-weather main track, leaving the Canadian venue without its Thursday and Friday Thoroughbred cards at the start of a busy July weekend.
Woodbine said contractors remain on site working to resolve the problem. With two cards now lost, the track has reshaped Sunday, July 5 into a 12-race programme, including all seven races that had already been drawn for Thursday.
Sunday Card Rebuilt After Friday Cancellation
The update matters for horsemen, punters and broadcasters because Woodbine is a key summer circuit in North America, and this is no longer a single-card interruption. The track is also holding discussions with the HBPA and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario over a possible rescheduled race date on Monday, July 6.
The latest Woodbine racing cancellation update leaves Saturday racing untouched for now, but puts attention firmly on repair progress before the rebuilt Sunday card.
