Newcastle Horse Racing Tips

13:40 Newcastle – Education Network Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 7f ITV

A tricky opener, but the safest bet for me looks to be BENNY BENNU, who was a fair 4th last time out at Chester.

He’s down a pound for that and was only a place behind Supido that day but slightly better off here.

With that his first run of the year he should improve too – whereas Supido had already had an outing.

Of the rest, my old mate Korker is back to and was 6th in that same Chester race – he’s winless now in 27 but continues to drop down the handicap and will surely pop up soon.

While Room Service was a good 2nd in the G3 Criterium Stakes at York on this day last season and is back from a 266-day break into a handicap.

🥇BENNY BENNU
🥈Korker
🥉Room Service

14:10 Newcastle – JenningsBet Chipchase Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 6f ITV

Another tough puzzle to solve.

Marvelman is noted and is 1-1 on the AW (Kempton), plus down in grade and has gone well fresh in the past.

2025 Jersey Stakes winner Nobel Champion is in here too, but been poor since that Ascot win.

While the same can be said for last season’s Sandy Lane winner Symbol Of Honour, who hasn’t won since.

Wiltshire will be popular too being 4-9 on the AW, but is also 0-4 in Listed or better company.

So the best thing here is to leave this to last year’s winner DILIGENT HARRY.

He was drawn 3 last year, but is from 10 this time. He’s run two good races on the turf this season, that he hates (0-20).

But back on the AW, where he’s 10-18, then it all looks in place for another big run for this Clive Cox horse, with Saffie Osborne in the plate again.

🥇DILIGENT HARRY
🥈Marvelman
🥉Ferrous

14:40 Newcastle – JenningsBet Festival Northumberland Vase Handicap (Consolation) Cl2 (3yo+) (GBB) 2m ½f ITV

Many chances yet again on what looks a very hard afternoon for punters.

We’ve the last two winners in Savrola (2025) and Alphonse Le Grande (2024) – but are up 5lbs and 6lbs respectively for those wins.

Artisan Dancer was 12th last year and is back rated 4lbs higher, but does have a top AW record with 34 runs and 23 top three finishes.

But this could be left to two recent Chester scorers – Shrimp Shady and BELIEVEITANDUCAN.

The former is up 5lbs for that success and has had a 50 day break to freshen up.

But I just felt Believeitanducan has a bit more to come on the flat after two recent wins at Ascot and Chester.

This Alan King horse is up a fair-looking 5lbs for the last of those, which was a 3 1/4 length win and William Buick catches the eye in the plate.

🥇BELIEVEITANDUCAN
🥈Shrimp Shady
🥉Alphonse Le Grande

15:15 Newcastle – JenningsBet Northumberland Plate Handicap (Heritage) Cl2 (3yo+) (GBBPlus) 2m ½f ITV

Some good trends here that tell us 20 of the last 24 winners were drawn 14 or lower.

Plus 18 of the last 24 aged 6 or younger and 23 of the last 24 finished 5th or better last time.

We’ve also got last year’s winner Spirit Mixer back rated 6lbs higher, in what will be his 4th run in the race (2nd & 9th before too).

Team Player was a cracking 5th in the Chester Cup and is noted too, as is last year’s second Dancing In Paris, who is up 4lbs.

Course winner Circus Of Rome is the likely favourite and for such a competitive race the market leaders have a fair record – winning 6 of the last 24.

Take Two Northumberland Plate Runners Against The Field

But two I like here are RIDE THE THUNDER and MOON OVER MIAMI.

The former will have a bit to prove over this longer trip, but is trying it for the first time – so could very well suit having been running well behind Valiancy over 1m6f.

Draw 7 is good too for this Roger Varian runner, as they run the first few furlongs up the home straight before hitting a bend, so often being drawn lower has helped.

While with only eight career runs he might have more to come.

Then Moon Over Miami is drawn wider (19), which isn’t ideal, but the return to this trip off a mark of 90 looks interesting – having won off this rating in the past too.

The form of that last run at Goodwood (4th) has been franked with the 5th Too Soon winning at Epsom since.

Plus he’s 12lbs better off with Team Player, who beat him on soft ground at Musselburgh in April.

So I’ll take either Thunder to be lightning and Moon to eclipse the others here.

🥇MOON OVER MIAMI (e/w)
🥈RIDE THE THUNDER
🥉Team Player

15:45 Newcastle – JenningsBet Over 200 Shops Nationwide Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 6f ITV

Fivethousandtoone took this last year and is back rated just 3lbs higher. Plus the silver from 2025 POCKLINGTON is also returning and is up 6lbs.

The last-named also loves it here at Newcastle with figures that read 1-1-2-2-2-7 and should be spot-on for this after just two runs this season and a recent wind op.

Power Fizz is the obvious call too from the in-form William Haggas yard – and was an easy winner over CD here last time. But is up 7lbs this time and upped in grade.

Probably the most likely winner being 2-2 here at Gosforth Park, but not great value.

Tuco Salamanca is another that likes it on the AW, being 5-from-9 on the sand, while Al Najashi is 5-from-7.

While the one that looks over-priced to me is ANNAF.

Yet another that seems to run well here at Newcastle – running a blinder to be second in the G3 Chipchase here 12 months ago.

He’s lost his way a bit since but looks very well-treated off 99 – his last run in the 90’s was back in 2022.

Plus, he’s run 14 times on the AW and had 12 top three finishes (5 wins), so a return here could spark him back to life.

🥇POCKLINGTON
🥈ANNAF
🥉Power Fizz

York Horse Racing Tips On Saturday

York Races

13:55 York – Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Mile Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-90) 1m ITV

Course winner Golden Strike is the only last time out victor in the field and being up just 3lbs will have his backers.

William Haggas won this last year and tries again. This time with Zennor Storm, who could bounce back after being gelded.

My old mate Darkness is in too and only 2lbs higher than his last win.

While Oisin Murphy draws the eye on Wild Nature, who was third at Musselburgh last time but is 0-8 on the grass.

So the one I like here is ANDESITE.

He ran a cracker behind the improving Extremely Zain last time here – running on well through traffic to take second.

You feel if he’d had won that, he’d have gone up more than a pound and the step up from 7f to 1m is sure to suit based on how he finished the last day.

While his only career win came here at York back in May 2024.

🥇ANDESITE.
🥈Zennor Storm
🥉Golden Strike

14:25 York – Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dash Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-100) 5f ITV

Fortification had won great this season and loves it here at York – with a win and three top four places this campaign here.

But is up another 3lbs here and is now 8lbs higher than his last win.

Oisin Murphy will ride Naana’s Shadow as they pair look to follow-up their 3yo Epsom Dash win last time. She’s up 7lbs this time.

Away from Fortification, Rotokura Belle is the only other CD winner in the field and gets in here with just 8-4.

However, in yet another very open race the pick is OUR CODY for Richard Hughes.

This 3yold filly was fine 4th last time in the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown to Words Of Truth and is back into a handicap here.

The yard also tend to do well with their 3yolds at York, coming into this race with a 38% SR with recent runners.

🥇OUR CODY
🥈Naana’s Shadow
🥉Fortification

14:58 York – Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Criterion Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f ITV

There was a lot of hype around Saber Strike at Royal Ascot in the Jersey Stakes last time (watch below).

However, this Night Of Thunder colt could only manage 6th after racing a bit free early on.

But regardless, he didn’t impress me and so it’s interesting the Haggas team are putting him out again so soon.

Maybe they want to prove a point, but having a hard race only a week ago and being a young horse too. I can’t believe he’s so short in the betting.

Yes, he gets a handy 9lbs off the rest, but I’d still rather be with one of the most experienced runner thanks.

Last season’s fluke 150/1 Sussex Stakes winner Qirat is proven that win was exactly that – having not hit the frame since.

So the safer call looks to side with NEVER SO BRAVE.

He’s on a bit of a recovery mission too after not yet being able to back up his G1 City Of York Stakes win from last August.

But at least the form of his recent 5th to Ten Bob Tony at Epsom has been boosted with that horse winning the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

I’ll take this return to York as his stepping stone to getting his career back on track.

🥇NEVER SO BRAVE
🥈Saber Strike
