Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip

7:10 Lingfield – ROGUE EMPIRE (NAP)

This Roger Teal gelding is in the form of his life after top wins at Lingfield and Kempton.

Escapes a penalty for the last of those successes too as it came in an apprentice race.

But Owen Lewis, who rode that day, keeps the ride and takes off 5lbs this time (3lbs last time) – so he’s actually a bit better off.

Everything points to the Rogue Empire to continue his reign.

“I know it’s a bit quick but realistically, I’ve been forced to run back Rogue Empire after last week as he’s gone up 8lb for that yet gets no penalty here. He’s very well at home so we had to roll the dice – I hope it turns out okay.” Roger Teal told the FromTheStables site today.

Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips

1:30 Yarmouth – LARAVIE

Another horse in top order at the moment – winning her last three.

Connections look to have found another good chance for her and it will be a shock if he’s not landed the four-timer.

With SDS, who rides Yarmouth well, in the saddle.

3:50 Yarmouth – CELESTRA

Yes, this Gosden runner has been a tad expensive to follow – as he’s been placed in her first four races.

However, her only threat looks to be the unraced Varian runner here Summerson, but with the experience edge and the first-time cheekpieces she’s taken to get off the mark at the fifth attempt.

4:15 Ascot  – SCANDINAVIA (NB)

A decent renewal of the Gold Cup, with many potential ‘new kids on the block’, plus last season’s winner Trawlerman.

The current champ is now, however, aged 8 and that for me is just a bit too old – backed up by the Gold Cup trends.

There’s only been one winner aged 8+ since 1901 – and that was the four-time winner Yeats.

Caballo De Mar and Rahiebb are on the up, but so is Scandinavia – who has won his last five.

He’ll have to prove he can stay this far – but that applies to a few others in the race, but is sure to ridden to get the trip by Moore.

O’Brien has mopped up 9 Gold Cup wins in the past and I’ll take Scandinavia to ‘freeze’ out his rivals and make it 10 for Ballydoyle.
