Royal Ascot Day One Each Way Tips: Interesting Ascot Stakes Pick

See my Royal Ascot each way tips on Day One of the meeting. I’m putting up two selections in big fields at juicy prices to take full advantage of extra place terms.

Royal Ascot Each Way Tips On Day One – 16th June 2026

With at least five places on offer with most firms for the King Charles III Stakes, I’m putting up a selection in the feature sprint.

And six places with a few bookies, I’ve got a fancy in the Ascot Stakes.

Be sure to check out the Royal Ascot Day One trends and stats for the other races to help you find some winners.

Full Royal Ascot Day One Schedule

See the full running order and ITV Racing schedule for day one of Royal Ascot below.

  • 14:30 – Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1, 1m)
  • 15:05 – Coventry Stakes (Group 2, 6f)
  • 15:40 – King Charles III Stakes (Group 1, 5f)
  • 16:20 – St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1, 1m)
  • 17:00 – Ascot Stakes (Class 2, 2m4f)
  • 17:35 – Wolferton Stakes (Listed, 1m2f)
  • 18:10 – Copper Horse Stakes (Class 2, 1m6f)

15:40 – King Charles III Stakes (Group 1, 5f): RUMSTAR @ 14/1

RUMSTAR made a solid return to action when a close second in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket last time and is entitled to come on for that run.

He was sent off 10/1 for this race last year but failed to shine only managing 14th of 20. However, he was beaten just six lengths so it doesn’t look that bad on paper.

Jonathan Portman’s stable star has had a little bit of a different prep this time around, he had two runs prior to Royal Ascot last season, but comes here having run just once.

He’s been kept fresh for this and is more battle hardened than many of his rivals.

With five places on offer with most firms, it makes Rumstar an attractive each-way bet as he more often than not, always gives his running.

His Ascot record isn’t too inspiring but he has won here before. He’ll need things to fall perfectly for him but if they do then I’d expect him to be well on the premises coming down to the furlong pole.

17:00 – Ascot Stakes (Class 2, 2m4f): COMFORT ZONE @ 16/1

Joseph O’Brien saddles 7 in this and plenty of attention will be drawn to his runners.

And my attention in particular is drawn to COMFORT ZONE who has had a quiet time of things as of late.

He was a close third in this race last year and was finishing strongly, but he just ran out of time in the end.

His two runs this season have been far from convincing but if you look at it from a handicapping perspective, it’s not a bad thing.

Comfort Zone is just 1lb higher than last year’s third and he should be primed for this as it looks like it has been a target of his for a while.

Tom Marquand rides him again and I’m expecting this JP McManus-owned horse to go very close.
