Jim Boyle confirms Royal Ascot plans for 2000 Guineas 4th Into The Sky

Into The Sky was a solid fourth in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket last month and trainer Jim Boyle has revealed the next step for his stable star.

Royal Ascot Next For Into The Sky Following Guineas 4th

Last season, Into The Sky produced one of the most almighty debuts at Newbury, winning by seven-and-a-half lengths at 80/1.

He was completely overlooked in the market but confirmed that promise when coming second in the Group 2 Mill Reef.

That would be it for his two-year-old campaign but he returned this season with a tremendous fourth in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Boyle is now dreaming of Royal Ascot glory with this talented son of Starman. He has a couple of options at the royal meeting, but could take his chance in the Jersey Stakes (7f).

The trainer was speaking to the Racing Post:

He couldn’t have come (to the yard) at a better time. We needed to show what we felt we were always capable of and that was competing with the big boys given the right ammunition.

There was pressure and if he’d bombed out (in the Guineas) it would have been a huge anti-climax after all that build up. I was confident he wouldn’t, but he was up against the big guns and it was an entirely different kettle of fish. It was a fantastic day and a huge sense of relief that he ran so well.

We’ve taken him out of the St James’s Palace now, so we’re definitely not going down that route at Royal Ascot. We’ve left him in the Commonwealth Cup for now but I’d suggest the Jersey is definitely the more likely option.

He might not have stayed the mile as strongly as some of the others in the Guineas, but he didn’t fall in a hole, and that seven furlongs at Ascot should be right up his street and slightly calmer waters than the Commonwealth.
