Impressive Leicester winner Libertango heading to Royal Ascot says George Boughey
  • Libertango made fine start to career at Leicester
  • All roads leading to Royal Ascot now
  • Currently priced at 12/1 for Albany

After impressing on debut at Leicester, Libertango will head to Royal Ascot with trainer George Boughey suggesting that she’s an Albany filly.

Libertango Likely To Run At Royal Ascot After Leicester Success

George Boughey’s two-year-old LIBERTANGO looks likely to run at Royal Ascot next after impressing on debut at Leicester.

The No Nay Never filly was a length-and-a-half winner of a Leicester maiden and impressed with her turn of foot.

She did a lot wrong too, coming away slow from the starting stalls. However, she travelled strongly and when 2000 Guineas-winning jockey Billy Loughnane asked her to quicken, she did it with ease.

After costing 400,000 guineas at the Craven Breeze-Up sales last month, she certainly wouldn’t look out of place at Royal Ascot, with the Albany sounding likely.

Trainer Boughey said:

She’s a very straightforward filly who we haven’t had long. It was almost too good to be true how relaxed she was and I hoped to see it on track because we’d seen it at home and she’s making up into an Albany filly, I would think – Billy was pleased.

When she was bought, she was bought to win a maiden and then go to Ascot and that is what we will do. Will she stay any further than six furlongs? We will see. The family suggests she should get a mile but as a physical, she looks like a 5f horse, so if she can stay any further then she’ll be a good filly.

She’s got the make up and brain for Royal Ascot and there was no pressure coming here today with a horse like that as she makes my job easy. She’s a nice filly snd we’re lucky to have her.

Hopefully she can come out of this well and we can look forward to Ascot.

After already winning the 2000 Guineas with Bow Echo this season, a winner at the Royal meeting for Boughey’s team would be no surprise.
