Bow Echo Next Race: George Boughey’s Classic Star Skipping Irish 2000 Guineas

The Bow Echo next race has been revealed after he bolted up in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. George Boughey confirmed on Monday that he won’t be heading for the Irish equivalent.

Bow Echo Next Race: Royal Ascot Awaits For 2000 Guineas Hero

After bolting up in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, Bow Echo will now head to Royal Ascot in June, skipping the Irish equivalent on May 23rd.

It’s exactly six weeks until Royal Ascot kicks off and the Bow Echo next race looks to be decided. Boughey confirmed his stable star will head to the St James’s Palace Stakes.

He showed a frightening turn of foot at Newmarket, beating Aidan O’Brien’s Gstaad by just under three lengths.

Boughey commented on Bow Echo’s next race.

He was trained for the 2000 Guineas and this gives us a nice gap to freshen him up and go again. It makes sense to give him that bit of time.

I think the track at Ascot will suit him really well. He switches off, travels strongly and has a turn of foot. On fast ground, which you tend to get at Ascot, he should be very effective.

St James’s Palace Stakes Confirmed As Bow Echo Next Race

Being a son of Night of Thunder, Bow Echo staying over a mile for the time being seems the best option.

He’s unbeaten after four starts now and he looks like a proper miler with the course at Ascot likely to suit his racing style.

Boughey also said he could run in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood after Ascot, facing older horses for the first time.

Bow Echo is already the hot favourite for the St James’s Palace in six weeks time and he’s likely to remain at the head of the market right until the off.

Boughey’s charge could become the first horse since Godolphin’s Coroebus to complete the famous Ascot/Newmarket double in 2022.

Royal Ascot will be live on the ITV Racing schedule from 16th-20th June.
