Andy Newton Horse Racing: Today’s ‘NAP Of The Day’ Tip
6:50 Punchestown CAPTAINS SPEECH (NAP)
This Henry De Bromhead runner has racked-up two silvers in his recent runs, but last time at Wexford the first two pulled well clear of the third.
Prior to those runs was a point winner over 3m, and having been looking a tad one-paced at the business end of his races I think the step back up in trip today is a big plus.
The other noticeable thing is that the De Bromhead yard seem to like this race – with three wins in the last seven.
Captains Speech can deliver the right words today.
Today’s Other ‘Muggy Favs’ Lucky 15 Horse Racing Tips
4:47 Punchestown NOEMIE DE LA VIS
Was last seen running well down the field in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, but before that had shown promise with a close second at Fairyhouse.
Connections have given this filly 2 months to get over that Festival runs and seem to have found a good race to get her confidence back.
Paul Townend rides and Willie Mullins has won this race three times in the last five runnings.
5:30 Newton Abbot ARCTIC VOYAGE (NB)
Caught my eye the last day with a staying on win at Hereford.
Carries a penalty for that, so that will make life tougher here, but finished his race off well to suggest there is more to come.
Has also had a month to recover and the Michael Blake team have a cracking 35% SR with their runners here at Newton Abbot.
Harry Reed, who rode the last day, remains in the plate.
8:00 Newton Abbot GOLDEN SUN
This Hunters’ Chase looks a bit of a two-horse shootout, but the Paul Nicholls runner should have the edge.
Was a fine 4th in the big Cheltenham Foxhunters’ back in March and that form has been franked since with the winner Barton Snow winning at Aintree since.
Golden Son was back in 12th in that Liverpool race, but into much calmer waters today.
This is also a race the Ditcheat team like – winning 3 of the last 7 and Paul’s daughter Olive, who rides today, also steered home his 2023 winner Young Buck.
Golden Son is taken to shine, with Regatta De Blanc his main threat.
