Aidan O’Brien has supplemented Gstaad for the 2000 Guineas, despite recently suggesting he might go for the French version instead.
Gstaad Supplemented For 2000 Guineas
Searching for an 11th win in the 2000 Guineas, Aidan O’Brien has now strengthened his team for Newmarket after supplementing Gstaad for the race.
This comes just a week after O’Brien suggested he might send Gstaad to the French 2000 Guineas instead.
“Gstaad ran at lots of different tracks (last year) and is a very straightforward horse. It is possible that if everything keeps going well for Gstaad, and that if everyone is happy, he could go to the French Guineas.”
But that’s not the case anymore with the 2000 Guineas betting odds taking a big shift after the news on Monday afternoon.
Gstaad is a winner over a mile and took home the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar on his final start as a two-year-old. He’s not been seen since and was beaten on his only other race on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket.

Who Won The 2000 Guineas Last Year?
Last year’s 2000 Guineas was won by Godolphin-owned horse Ruling Court trained by Charlie Appleby, who will be looking to win the race for a third time a row this weekend at Newmarket.
The powerful trainer currently has Distant Storm and King’s Trail entered and the last trainer to win a 2000 Guineas three times in a row was Aidan O’Brien.

In recent seasons, O’Brien has missed when sending horses over for the English 2000 Guineas, notably City Of Troy was a big under-performer two years ago.
