Group 1 Winner Zavateri Ruled Out Of 2000 Guineas After Setback

One of last year’s most successful two-year-olds ZAVATERI has been ruled out of both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas after suffering a setback.

Zavateri Not Running In 2000 Guineas

Eve Johnson Houghton confirmed on Friday morning that Zavateri will not run in the English or Irish 2000 Guineas after suffering a minor setback.

The son of Without Parole scored at Group level three times as a two-year-old including the Group 1 National Stakes in Ireland, but will not be running at Newmarket next week.

He returned to action last weekend at Newbury and was beaten a length by Alparslan in the Greenham Stakes and has since suffered a setback.

Zavateri was around a 25/1 shot in the 2000 Guineas betting odds but will now not take his place in the first classic of the season.

Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton seemed to be favouring the Irish 2000 Guineas instead given that her horse didn’t deal too well with the undulations of the Rowley Mile at Newmarket last season.

He won on the July Course, but disappointed in the Dewhurst when tackling the tricky Rowley Mile for the first time.

The 2000 Guineas will be live on the ITV Racing schedule next weekend, as well as the 1000 Guineas too.
